VF’s Knick-Knacks of the Week

Smitten Kitten a.k.a. “Summer” and I went to shop for our knick-knacks at Haji Lane over the weekend. Yesterday, i got home and started clasping jump rings and cutting wires till 12am. The result? I made a pair of earrings and a charm necklace last night - talk about crafty fun. Here are present to you my first charm necklace made by me called: “Leo”

The charms are white ceramic ‘ghost’ with gold leaves, ruby red crystal-glass drop, silver ‘Leo’ star charm, mushroom glass bead, red flower glass bead with gold leaves, blue/pink glass bead with blue/purple swarowski crystals. All from Quaint Secrets (note: website is not up yet).

Since we’re all in a jewelry-craze, Vogue Factory will present some outstanding knick-knacks we spotted over the web:

As seen on Mischa Barton, this Kenneth Jay Lane Red Strawberry Necklace is simple yet juicy chic. Made from electroplated 18 karat braided chain necklace with resin strawberry pendant and it’s 33″ long. Made with love in N.Y.C.

Hello Weekend always have cute knick-knacks. Peony is a one-off necklace made from an oriental mix of beads and baubles with a large heart cloisionne piece. Utterly fab! Unfortunately, the item has been sold (as always). Early bird catches the worm remember?

One of Vogue Factory’s readers, Phoebe has tipped us about another local jewelry designer, The.Other.Eden. I absolutely heart the Bienvenue a Paris (’Welcome to Paris’) earrings - so sparkly and the Eiffel Tower charm is just lovely. Also check out the tribal brooch - it just screams grunge huh?

Mischa in Vogue (like literally)

There’s something about Mischa Barton that really ticks. The fashion icon to-be, here’s a peek at her latest photo shoot as Vogue Australia’s July covergirl:

I absolutely adore this vintage-inspired Miu Miu dress and yes, Charlie, her dog is furry-cute!

Mischa
looks classy in this willow blue silk dress by Bvlgari Vintage Collection. This is my pick among the rest.

This Louis Vuitton red wool crepe dress is ultra hot and sassy. The dog is just a humour element. Who let the dogs out?

90s Flash Back: Dungarees are B-A-C-K

The last time I wore an overall was when I was 12. Yes, a denim overalls from Sportsgirl. And, I honestly admit that I l-o-v-e wearing it back in those days because Alex Mack was always wearing an overall (and I secretly thought she was cool). Hey, I was only 12 and still watching Nickelodeon. Gimme a break. The point is dungarees and overalls are smashin’ their way through the couture scene. As you know, they’re not the most easiest or the prettiest thing to wear. Although, here are some “inspirations” from the runway and the indies after a touch of refinement and style:

For Spring/Summer: Mayle, Rachel Comey, and A.P.C. (source: Refinery29) The spunk still stays as overalls never look so hot pairing up with nice heels.

From Marc by Marc Jacobs. I absolutely heart the denim dungaree with the layers below! Totally sweet! (source: iamfashion)

Airside Shop: Make a Statement

The world needs more honest tees like these because in reality, we don’t live in the Hallmark la-la-land. Airside presents two of their statement tees that are brutally “honest” specially for applied individuals. “I’m not in love” comes in three different color combination for both sexes.

Quote of the day: Work Hard & be Nice to People. Have a wonderful day ahead, guys.

Petrified Baggage: simply one-of-a-kind

Tagged by the lovely Sabrina (thanks for the tip, babe!). Petrified Baggage petrifies with with its uber-cool original designs made by (get this) a 19-yr old Canadian girl who single-handedly design and hand-made all the bags. Launched in summer of ‘04, her site carries a limited range of purses, tote bags, messenger bags and even makeup pouches that are truly one-of-a-kind!

I particularly heart the Sweet Stuff Purse but unfortunately, the item has been sold out. Dang! So, put yourself on the mailing list and be the first to know when she restocks! Sigh, we just can’t get enough of bags huh?

Rebe: A Family A-Flair

Rebe makes the cutest, quirkest and electic wear and accessories with a fabulous mix fun and colorful fabrics - REBE, I must say, is here to stay. The design team behind this new favorite brand of mine is mother & daughter, Debra Weiss and Hilary Sproatt. Generation gap, you say… no way! They even make pretty bags, belts and other must-have knick-knacks!

The only boo-boo is their price is abit, erm, pricey for my pocket. Let Rebe be an inspiration *think positive*

VF’s Top Summer Trends We Love

High-waisted belt is one of the more prominent trend this season. This fabulous rainbow stripe belt from Forever21 is just perfect for the fun, happy look to pair off with that bold red dress. Totally chic!

Sailor stripes or anything nautical is in my chic ditionary. Also, hot off the shelfs are cropped denim jackets worn with pretty dresses. Above are our picks from the fabulous ZARA Summer ‘06 collection.

Go boho with checked tops with chunky gold necklaces. And yes, denim shorts are in too. Yes, we can’t enough of stripe dresses, stripe whatever! Above are our picks from the fabulous ZARA Summer ‘06 collection.

Big blouses with short white crop shorts are awesome for the Summer. Not to mention, long European-inspired long flowy dresses are for the beautiful people. Yes, more from the awesome ZARA Summer ‘06 collection. I can’t help it, I just bought a pretty pink/white stripe wrap-around top from ZARA yesterday. Hee.

Black haunts us every season. Even in Summer. Shirt dress is one of my all-time fave style and that black piece just looks stunning. If it isn’t black, it’s white. This victorian style dress is another hot trend this summer. These are the gorgeous selection from MNG.
