Cashmere Mafia: Hot or Not?

cashmere

They call it the next ‘Sex and the City‘. ABC hailed it as “a thinking woman’s Sex and The City mixed with the wit of The Devil Wears Prada.” Cashmere Mafia is starting to impress me with its wicked fashion and its recipe for “revenge” (in short, cheaters are sore losers). Its target market are professional women with high spending power, and of course “power” in general - you’ll be expecting to see tons of designer wear throughout the season. With Patricia Field on the job, you’ll be getting your fashion fix every Sunday. Hot or not? You decide. Here are some key looks that I personally dig:

Lucy Liu's Skirt Rocks!

In Ep 01, Mia (played by Lucy Liu) kicks start the series premiere in this cute leopard/flower power print skirt with a black waisted belt. Before accepting a marriage proposal, make sure you look fabulous at all times.

Lucy Liu in Episode 02

In Ep 02, the newly empowered… and single Mia plays politics in this stunning green dress with faux fur. The colour definitely compliments her exotic good looks, and those earrings! Nice.

Juliet on the roll!

This is a simple look, but very elegantly put together. Juliet (played by Miranda Otto) is on her cell and on the way to work. As you can see, the staple workwear accessory is not the cellphone, but - the signature waisted belt to create the illusion of an hour-glass figure.

Revenge is sweet

As you can see, I am featuring two of my favourite characters, Juliet and Mia. Juliet reminded me of Bree from Desperate Housewives. What happens when you find out about your cheating husband? Go for a makeover, look fabulous and cheat back! (I’m not taking credit for this).

Best friends

To celebrate the newly engaged (not!) couple, the best friends toast to ‘everlasting love’ for the happy couple. I particularly like Zoe’s (played by Frances O’Connor, left) black/white sweetheart cocktail dress. Very tuxedo-inspired.

So far, the looks have been very clean, and sophisticated. I look forward to future episodes and spot more original ‘Cashmere Mafia‘ looks. I foresee in near future, we’ll be chanting ‘Mia Mason’ more frequently than ‘Carrie Bradshaw’.
