During our roadtrip around Coromandel, my friend, Trinh insisted we stop over at a lil’ arty shop for handmade accessories. What a gem! Moko is “an Artspace at Hot Water Beach which houses New Zealand and Pacific Style Arts including jewellery, designware, wall art and sculpture”.
Paua shell accessories are big in NZ. It makes a perfect touristy gift because you can find them almost anywhere. However, Moko carries some unique designs that are beautiful and still affordable.
I absolutely heart this necklace. Aroha means ‘love’ in Maori.
Jade or greenstone is traditionally used by Maoris for making ornaments and accessories. Today, they’re carved into pendants in various shapes such as fish hooks, tail and etc.
Moko is inspiring. You experience art just being in the creative space. It’s definitely a must-go destination or worthy of a stop over when you’re touring around Coromandel.
