Taste Like Fruit

I was amazed when I saw this new b+ab SS08 ads at Style Bubble. These fabulous fruity tutty ads are the brainchild of Japanese pop artist, Nagi Noda. I’ve never been or seen b+ab’s collection in Hong Kong, but maybe I’ll go check them out in July. If you’ve never heard of them (like me), it’s a “Hong Kong fashion brand label launched in 1995 offering high-end ladies’ fashion quality with a mass market approach (that) is mainly inspired by Japanese young women’s chic and trendy styles, provides a variety of fashionable outfits”. You get the picture. Check out the ads & backstage photos:

‘Sex and the City’ New York Premiere

Let’s see what the girls wore to the ‘Sex and the City’ New York Premiere. SJP never failed to impress. With her hubby in hand, SJP strutted down the red carpet in a gorgeous metallic Nina Ricci gown. This is much much better than the crazy head gear in London - but then again, I applaud her for her bravery!

Black and Gold is the new… err, Black! Kristin Davis is turning heads with this accordion pleated gold Donna Karan dress. It’s the Charlotte goes partying look and I’m totally diggin’ this.

Cynthia Nixon is a classy lady. She may not be everyone’s favourite but I personally see a little Miranda in me (yeah, call me cynical). She looks beautiful in this white Narciso Rodriguez gown and love the gold clutch as well!

ERR… I’m not lovin’ this metallic strapless Vivienne Westwood dress. Kim Cattrall should consider switching stylist. What’s with the strappy heels! Made her feet look so stumpy. This is a red carpet no-no.

Spotted: Anna Wintour at SATC After-Party

(Photo: Fashionologie)

Anna Wintour rarely makes an appearance in public. But here, she’s seen with Shelby Bryan at the Sex and the City After Party in New York on May 27. Is it the big Vogue ‘product placement’ in SATC? (Let’s say it’s about 15 mins running time featuring Carrie Bradshaw and Vogue.

So what is Miss Anna Wintour wearing? It’s Oscar de la Renta Resort 2009. Oh yeah.

‘Sex and the City’ Gala Premiere @Vivocity

Ta-dah! Yours truly was at the ‘Sex and the City’ Gala Premiere last night at Vivocity. I brought my boy along (well, it’s hard to bring your girlfriend because the rest will be jealous!) who is not a SATC fan and he prolly has seen one episode like… ever. So, this would be a good time to introduced our favourite “girlfriends” to him - Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte.

That’s me in floral glory! It’s summer (unfortunately, it was raining yesterday) and I deserve to wear summer dresses! I couldn’t wear heels yesterday because I had to work (doh) and rush to class and then to Vivocity for dinner with mum before sending her off.  Yeah, mum went home yesterday night.

It’s a private event! Warner Bros booked the entire cinema for the night. They’re really promoting SATC to every single, attached or married women from 20 to 40 years old.

The running text above says “Welcome to “Sex & the City” Gala Premiere”. Woo!

NOW SHOWING: SEX AND THE CITY - Yes, we get the picture.

Filming crew! Ooh, I miss production life - in a way. I’m not sure who they’re shooting for - HBO? Channel News Asia? I don’t know.

Singapore celebrities, Pierre Png and Andrea de Cruz. I wonder why she needs to take slimming pills and risk her life to gain her ideal weight. To me, she looks perfectly fine! She’s even skinnier than the magazines.

FOOD! FOOD! Glorious food! We had dinner at Crystal Jade Dining In before popping by. Sigh.

Ooh, sexy back! Haha. Check out the decor on the table. The David Tutera in me is coming out!

The boy couldn’t resist more dessert from the buffet table. Cheesecakes and brownies, yum!

More cosmos and champagne! The boy isn’t comfortable with photos. That’s his just after work look with his Adidas backpack. My mum says he looks like a school kid. That’s me without makeup, hahaha.

Champagne! I didn’t have any. I would be drunk before the movie started. I was a good girl and I had a Coke Light instead.

This is the SATC Gala Premiere invite that has been sitting at my work desk for almost a week.

As I wait patiently for the movie, I decided to take a close up of my ZARA summer dress and pink patent flats. So here we are, listening to the SATC soundtrack and watching all these fabulously dressed people walking in and taking their seats. Ooh, lights dimmed… and we’re starting the show!

Dress: Floral summer dress by ZARA

Shoes: Pink Patent Flats by Mondo (only $9!)

Necklace: Black stone pendant by Diva

SATC Update! Blogging at 12am.

I just got home from the ‘Sex and the City’ Gala Premiere at Vivocity. The event was extravagant - more free flow cosmopolitans and champagne (and, Coke Light). There were celebrities, who’s who, sponsors and good lookin’ food. I’ve got photos but you’ll have to wait till later for my post.

Movie Verdict: If you love fashion, sex and love - don’t miss it. It’s not the greatest movie ever made. SJP is not going to win an Oscar for her ‘telling her friends she’s getting married’ scene. BUT, it was entertaining enough and ooh, metal studded belt… Manolo BlahniksVivienne Westwood wedding gown… HOT MEN (and I think I even caught a glimpse of some schlong unless I was dreaming)… It’s about finding love, keeping love, losing love and redeeming love. If that makes any sense. What did I say again about my attention span? Two hours and twenty minutes is VERY long.

I need sleep. Goodnight WORLD.

2008 Cannes Film Festival Best Dressed

The 2008 Cannes Film Festival has finally ended. Everyone cheered Laurent Cantet’s The Class which is the first French film to win the Palme d’Or Award since 1987. Fash-E has seen some fabulous couture gowns and designer dresses during this event. Fabsugar collated the best dressed and here’s our take on it:

Fash-E’s Best Dressed Award goes to… Natalie Portman in Givenchy! All the talk about the big volume, I don’t care. I think the origami-pleated dress is flirty and very young.

Gladiator heels! I’ve been seeing gladiators everywhere in town now. Gwyneth Paltrow makes this Giuseppe Zanotti for Balmain gladiator heels look red-carpet worthy by pairing it with a sleek black Celine dress.

In all royalty, Dita Von Teese is looking classy in royal purple Jean Paul Gaultier. I’m impressed by the way the long purple beads trace the silhouette of the dress.

The Queen of Pop, Madonna looks like a billion bucks in Chanel couture. This fringe sequin dress is one-of-a-kind and she exudes confidence in it.

Georgina Chapman in her own Marchesa glided ball gown. I love the gold peacock design, what a masterpiece.

Miss Columbia, Valerie Dominguez is such a tall beauty with her sheer black chiffon gown. Very elegant!

Penelope Cruz looks stunning beautiful in this teal design by L’Wren Scott. I love the cute maroon buttons on the side.

Preview: H&M 2008 Fall Collection

As time gets closer to my birthday/HK-trip, I’m quietly sneak a peek at H&M 2008 Fall Collection. And of course, plan my shopping ahead of time! Fall/Winter collection never really applies in Singapore - which explains the extremely hot weather we’ve been enduring over here. However, Fall/Winter also means ‘holidays’ to cold countries towards the end of the year. Tokyo, here I come! In the meantime, I promise you won’t be disappointed with H&M’s new collection. And, are you anticipating Comme des Garçons for H&M Fall 2008?

Colour Me Beautiful
Colour tights! Yes, we’re not getting enough of long, colourful legs. Model, Heather Marks looked really cute in the mini dress with black blazer and high-waisted skirt with pink trench coat.

Knitwear & Socks
Knitwear is a Fall staple - unfortunately, I have sensitive skin and it itches me crazy. I like the boots and blood orange sock with high waisted tulip skirt. Love the stack of bangles too!

Mens Inspiration
Here are some unusual twist to men-inspired cuts for women. I like the idea of giving the look a different texture and silhouette with a burst of bright orange and green. OMG, I want boots.

Geeky Cute
I love that tube-top with the dotted lines! Not too sure about pairing it with wide-leg pants though. I need geeky glasses and did I mention BOOTS?

More Knits & Wide Leg Trousers
You can get pretty inspiration for office wear during the cold season. I love the ultra-high boots… lol and the print flare top. It’s very feminine yet chic.

Look Right
Long dresses are still hanging around. I like how Heather wears flowers on her wrist. Also, we need some hats! More jackets too.

I Want I Want
I want 50s-inspired poufy skirts and bring in more stripes! It seems like ankle boots are sticking around and we’ll have more to shop for!

Love Long
Don’t you love the oriental-inspired top and trench with a bow tied at the neck. So feminine and unique at the same time. Goodbye summer, and hello rain/snow/autumn!

Mummy & Daughter Spotted!

Sorry for the weekend hiatus. My mum was in town and both of us went on a crazy shopping spree along Singapore’s shopping district, Orchard Road. The Great Singapore Sale turned out to be quite a nightmare (yeah, I should have anticipated this) as the entire Singapore swarmed the town. My mum is so cute, she’s super addicted to Gelatissimo. We’re both on full gluttony mission!

(Photo: Fabsugar)

Fash-E spotted mummy-daughter pair: Vogue Paris editor Carine Roitfeld and her daughter Julia Restoin-Roitfield both lookin’ fashionably hot at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival red carpet. On the left, Carine looks super slick in black Lanvin and then, the duo appeared in sexy Balmain numbers. Very stunning, don’t you think? Whereas, my mum and I both wear ZARA and Dorothy Perkins. LOL.
