Happy Birthday to Moi :)

Midnight calls. Birthday wishes. I feel blessed and contented with my life at the moment. I did not craft out a birthday wish-list this year like every other year. To be honest, I don’t need any more stuff. Need = Greed. I don’t need to be rich to prove that I’m successful. I don’t need to travel the world to be open up my eyes. I don’t need to be showered with roses to prove that someone loves me. I don’t need Louis Vuitton to make me satisfied (although it would be nice). I don’t need anything except true happiness within.

I wish for happiness for everyone else – no sadness or tears. I wish my family and friends to be healthy and strong. I wish that old lady I met yesterday will have food and love for her remaining days. I wish for less hate in this world. Thanks to everyone who wished me on Facebook, SMS and etc – you know who you are.

May all beings be well and happy! Happy Birthday to moi :D

Holly Golightly! Lily Allen for Chanel Fall 2009

I adore Audrey Hepburn. And, I’ve seen Breakfast at Tiffany‘s like 10,000 times. It has never crossed my mind that it would be “channel-ed” into Chanel‘s Handbags Fall 2009 ad campaign featuring British singer, Lily Allen. Has Karl Lagerfeld lost his mind? Well, that’s what I thought when I first read about her involvement in the new campaign. I’ve to say – the campaign is not looking too bad afterall. Tell me what you think:

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate Lily Allen. I love her songs.

Every girl needs a tiara. Where’s mine?

I love this one – it makes this potty mouth looks classy!

ION Orchard: Steve Madden

I finally got my butt down to much-anticipated ION Orchard yesterday. I was uber-excited – felt like a little girl in a candy store. One of the stores that caught my attention is Steve Madden – like finally! I can’t afford anything from 1st level up so you probably will find me lurking in the basements. Anyway, STEVE MADDEN – I got even more excited when I saw the Citibank 20% discount on regular priced items. I bought myself a pair of sandals as an early birthday present to myself :D Here’s a sneak peek at what you can find in stores:

Shoes galore! Yay!

Spotted: Style: List 2009 After-Show

Look who I spotted at The Heeren yesterday!

Well, I didn’t make it for the show – but I bumped into fashion bloggers after the show at The Heeren. Zhiqiang from TraiT, Carlos from Vogueite and Laila from Rock The Trend. Nice to see you guys!

Fash-Crush: Rain [Bi] on my Parade!

I’ve a confession: I’m totally crushing on Rain [Bi]. I know, I’m a bloody laggard but hey, I just caught on to the Korean Wave. Six months ago, I would have said, “Never” or “Pooi Pooi” *spitting sound* – something to that extend. Look who’s laughing now. Sometimes I think Rain wears the weirdest chest-baring V-neck tops (fire that stylist!). Most of the time, he looks pretty awesome. If you ask me, I prefer him au naturelNOTHING! Let me show you the A-Z of Rain’s style:

Yummy. Harper’s Bazaar Korea [November '08].

HAWT.

Aww. Who’s looking at the pup?

They say he’s got magic feet. I agree! He is the MJ of Asia.

I’m a Cyborg But That’s OK was an awesome film. Weird, I like.

I think this is hilarious.

I’m not digging the hair but the glasses are cute!

So cute! I’m such a fan girl.

*FAINTS* AU NATUREL.

See what I’m talking about? Mr Chocolate Abs.

Can’t wait for NINJA ASSASSIN!!! :D

Snip! Snip! Komachi: The Hair Cult

The good people at Komachi: The Hair Cult (#02-07 Liang Court Shopping Centre) invited me over to experience their services first hand! Firstly, I was excited to meet Japanese hairstylists as I have heard about their precision haircuts and of course, great styles. I’m a Leo – so I’m very very particular about my ‘mane’. Well, I can be experimental sometimes. My hairstylist, Horii is a sweetie – he is so polite and I heard that he has done styling for VIVI magazine! He can speak basic English but that’s good enough. Read my exclusive interview below to find out more about the salon and also some latest hair trends:

Say “Hello” to Horii and yes *signature peace sign*

What inspired Horii to be a hair stylist? How long has he been in this profession?
Horii has been in this line for 8 years but he was exposed to the hair circle since young. His mother runs a hair salon back home, thus he virtually grew up in a hair salon. Horii has always been surrounded by fashion and hairstyles. His biggest inspiration comes from his mother and it has always been his dream to follow her footsteps as a hair stylist. He believes that a hair stylist is like a magician, someone who could magically transform people’s looks from the ordinary to the extraordinary.

The very impressive ‘tool’ belt. I want one too!

What are the hair trends for this season?
For the current wearable trend, long hair is out while the bob is making a stir in the scene once again. But do consult your stylist before chopping off those locks as not everybody suits the bob look.

Horii giving me a very slight snip snip before styling my hair.

Many Asians have a problem with limp hair – what hair tricks can you do to add volume to your hair?

  1. For those with short hair, you may consider a root perm. This perm just gives you volume and strength at the roots so that you don’t end up looking like a poodle.
  2. Another way to add volume would be to get a hair cut that has more layers at the top of the head.
  3. Otherwise, styling products like a wax or mud can help to give you some temporally volume as well.

You’ve got to try this ‘milk shake’ treatment – it’s heavenly!

Which celebrity hairstyle has the highest demand by your customers?
Ayumi Hamasaki (me: really?!? – what about Posh Becks?)

Ta-dah! The result of Horii‘s magic touch! What do you think?

Why is Komachi different than other hair salons in Singapore?
We pride ourselves on our stylists cutting techniques, technical knowledge and creativity. We make an effort to ensure we are at the forefront of hair trends and ensure that every customer walks out with his/her desired look. Besides having an elite team of Japanese stylists, we make sure that they are constantly being updated and trained in the latest hair trends, cutting techniques and other hair procedures.

Arigato Komachi & Heinz, the Publicity Pimp!!! He’s so cute lar!!!

Fash-Review: Have you seen CHIC?

Have you seen this on your newstand?

Curiosity kills the cat, right? I first read about CHIC magazine on Facebook since Project SMITTEN shuts its doors. It seems like this magazine is produced by almost the same team (Donna Tang is Editor – in case you didn’t know, she started Pluck, a boutique at Haji Lane). Anyway, I picked up a copy yesterday from 7-Eleven before Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (gosh, down-right disappointing!) since it only costs $2.80! Apparently it comes with free gifts but I didn’t see any! :P CHIC is created twice a month for shopping experts (what is that suppose to mean?). Well, it seems like the team has alot of work for them to turn around a magazine in two weeks! Immediacy is key. Let’s see what you can expect from this shopping magazine:

I wonder if you can ever run out of celebrities in Singapore!

A pretty standard feature for all fashion magazine.

I like this one – it’s great to see some creative, stylish input.

ooh, I love love love pin-up girls – but they’re not suppose to be SKINNY!

What is a shopping magazine without the SALE page? I love this!

Fash-Rating: 3 out of 5. I’m not a fan of the cover – seriously, I don’t think illustrations can sell better than real-life people. It’s a different approach but it doesn’t work for me. It didn’t make me wanna pick up the magazine (if I didn’t know about it). The colours were – alright. Content-wise is alright – tell me something I don’t know if your magazine is targeting shopping experts. We all read about Haji Lane like 10,000 times – we don’t really need to know more unless there is a significant change. However, I do like the page about NEW SHOPS – this is very useful in searching for the new shopping haunt. And, price display and affordability are important factors as well. A pretty decent job for the first issue!

Fash-Event: Tampines 1 Opening Party

Notice the green “blush” on our cheeks? We thought we were seeing spots at first!

Blogger friends: Nicole from Cherry Magazine, Lay Hiang and Lester.

My favourite Singapore actor, Adrian Pang, MC for the night.

Have you heard of ‘speed painting’ – that was painted in 15 mins to hip hop music!

MACAROONS! 10,000 calories dammit.

The cute Wottoncool girls :D
