Advertorial:
It is no secret that I’m a major procrastinator. My ROM is less than two months away and I have no dress, no photographer, and no invites – nothing except my man and two witnesses. Let alone, my Christmas shopping. If you ask me, shopping at Orchard Road is retail suicide especially for a procrastinator like me. I’ve been there, done that … and I ended up walking home. That happened in 2004. Let’s just say, I’ll never do it again.

Check out my POSB MasterCard Debit Card yo!
Thank goodness for fabulous online shops and my Debit MasterCard, I’ll never have to enter the Orchard Road battlefield to shop for Christmas gifts for my family and friends or worry about overspending! Here’s my guide to online shopping for the thoughtful procrastinator:

http://japan.netprice.com/
The idea: more buyers, more discounts! Isn’t that awesome? I could buy out the entire website if I have the choice. Thanks to Debit MasterCard – I can shop online easily and securely. Plus, I’m also using vPost Japan to ship items from this website – easy right?

For MEMEME!: Marc by Marc Jacobs Round Fastener Long Wallet (SGD113.53)
This metallic Marc by Marc Jacobs wallet is a must-have! It’s inexpensive via Netprice Japan and plus, it is cute as button. You can’t get a better deal than that! Embossed with heart design, this wallet can hold up to six cards (yes, including my MasterCard). I’m picking the gold … gunmetal looks good too! HMM. Decisions.

http://www.oki-ni.com/page/home
oki-ni.com stocks some of the most stylish goodies for men. If you’ve a fashion-conscious man, here’s the website for you. I like to buy stuff from this website for Bubster. He is particularly picky when it comes to shopping – don’t ask me why. I’m going to take a little risk this time round:

For Bubster: Martin Margiela Cufflinks Disco (SGD$225.00)
These Martin Margiela cufflinks are simple yet sleek. Bubster doesn’t like too complicated stuff. I think he’ll like these… plus they ship to Singapore! YAY!

http://www.shinnpark.com/
The 2009 winner of Best E-commerce Blogshop at the Singapore Blog Awards, shinnpark.com is a well-designed and well-stocked blogshop for all your fashion and lifestyle needs. It is a great local online store for finding Christmas gifts (and most importantly, get your items shipped in time!).

For My Sister: The Smartly Designed Folding Bag Hook (SGD$19.90)
http://www.shinnpark.com/?p=2852
How many times have you tried placing your bag on another chair or on your lap at the restaurant? The Smartly Designed Folding Bag Hook is genius. At SGD$19.90, I think it’s a steal! I’m getting Camille Cherry for my sister and Elena Night for myself. Owls & cherry blossoms are sooo cute!

http://www.soapnsorbet.com
Soap ‘n’ Sorbet is a new online shop that sells “cherry-picked, unique and imported bath, beauty and lifestyle treats.†If you love cult beauty products like me, you’ll be happy to see that they are the official distributors of STEAM CREAM, Tokyo Milk, Love + Toast, LaLicious, and Nostalgia Organics.

For Mum: LaLicious Vanila Travel Clutch Set (SGD$88.00)
http://www.soapnsorbet.com/productd.asp?no=1&id=98#
I love LaLicious! My mum loves smelling and feeling good when she travels. – I think it’s time to introduce her to my favourite LaLicious. This would be a great gift set for first-timers. Don’t you think?

http://www.thinkgeek.com
You know what. My dad is not a geek at all. In fact, I don’t think he has any interest – it’s not easy to shop for my dad. Think Geek has a “Gifts for Dads†section which is really helpful for clueless ones like me. I like their stuff because they stock very interesting, gifty items – in case, you ran out of ideas.

For Dad: Geek Insignia Ties (SGD$57.00)
If my dad is going to wear a tie to work, he should wear it with a little sense of humour. I think these Geek Insignia Ties are awesome. I personally like the Space Invaders (since Monkeys and Caffeine are both sold out!). You may have to use vPost because Think Geek doesn’t ship to Singapore at this point of time. Bugger!
YAY! Looks like I’m done with my Christmas shopping – now, I’ll have to wait for the items to arrive on time. It’s so easy to shop online with the Debit MasterCard – just enter the magical 16-digits and you’re set for your armchair shopping experience. The best part is that you don’t have to worry about spending more than you have because the money comes directly from your bank account. So you can just check your bank account online to keep track of your spending (especially useful for shopaholics like me!).
Happy Holidays everyone

Hellu,
I’d like to find out how you get stuff from ThinkGeek.
I wanted to make a few purchases only to realise @ the end that they don’t ship to Singapore? Only found this out @ the checkout.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Erin

Hi Erin
You can get a U.S. address by using VPost (http://www.vpost.com.sg/). VPost is a mail forwarding service which is good when you shop in U.S. sites that doesn’t ship worldwide. Try it!
Let me know how it goes.
