10 more days to Chinese New Year! For my dear readers who are celebrating Chinese New Year, have you thought of wearing cheongsams or qipaos to usher in the Year of the Dragon? Even if you’re not celebrating Chinese New Year, you might be interested in the “1920s Shanghai” look special occasions. These tight-fitting qipaos are popularized in the 1920s in Shanghai by the socialites of that era. Here are some of my picks for where to buy lovely cheongsams or qipaos which you can still shop for before Chinese New Year:

From Shanghai Tang‘s SS2012 collection called, “The Rite of the Phoenix” featuring Lin Chiling. I love her fuchsia, purple printed qipao. So modern, yet sexy!

I like the idea of modernized qipaos – by making them into separates like this Shanghai Tang SS2012 white qipao top and skirt.

And, your boyfriend or husband can also match you with his chinois Shanghai Tang SS2012 mandarin collar shirt and pants.

Singapore designer Lai Chan designed elegant, formal cheongsams which you can wear for weddings, parties as well as formal events.

I love the qipaos from Qipao by Jane. Her prices are not cheap but I love this silk chiffon Sakura qipao.

This a simple yet super sexy Persephone qipao from Qipao by Jane.

Designer Mel Chen of Caramel & Co from Singapore makes some of the prettiest qipaos.

Here are some of Caramel & Co‘s cheongsam designs. Which is your favorite?
