We can finally be famous for 15 minutes. The highly anticipated NARS Andy Warhol Holiday 2012 collection hits the first NARS Store at TANGS Orchard Beauty Hall on tomorrow, November 15th from 3:00pm onwards. I had the opportunity to preview the limited edition collection two weeks ago and I am OBSESSED. I love the fact that this collection is bursting with bold, pop art colours for this holiday season. One of the most important visual artist in history, Andy Warhol is no stranger to the world with his contribution to pop art, film and of course, Interview magazine. His memorable works continue to inspire the new generation of creative minds, including Mr François Nars.
Mr François Nars, Founder and Creative Director of NARS said, “I’ve been a fan of Andy’s work since…forever, it feels like! His artistic point of view has been so informative in my work – as a makeup artist, then a photographer, and as someone who’s built a brand around an art form. His influence is threaded through the DNA of NARS in other ways as well. Fabien Baron, who is the editorial director of Interview magazine – which, of course Andy founded – designed the NARS logo. I like to think there’s always been a connection between our work.”
I’m super excited about the NARS Andy Warhol Holiday 2012 gift collection (see below) and be sure to grab them fast as there are only approximately 100 for each set in Singapore. Scroll down for my review on the Color Collection/Holiday 2012 because it’s totally worth it.
NARS Andy Warhol Self Portrait Eyeshadow Palette (S$70 each). Sadly, you will destroy his “Self Portrait” the moment you use this. Maybe one for keeps, another for use?
The Silver Factory Gift Set is the most extensive set which includes Silver Factory Multiple (Aluminium), Shadows Trio Eyeshadow (Aluminium, Bright Deep Purple, and Matte Black), Chelsea Girls Pure Matte Lipstick (Innocent, flesh-toned beige), Desire Blush (Delicate bright pink), Via Veneto Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner (Black), Large Domed Eyeshadow Brush (Brush #13) and Blush Brush (Brush #8). This is Mr François Nars‘ choice.
I am going through a “nude” phase now and this Edie Gift Set is my personal choice. Comes in a 16mm film canister, the set includes Film Star Pure Matte Lipstick (60s nude pink), Edie Eyeshadow (Cream with a little bit of shimmer), Carpates Eyeliner Stylo (Black) and Deep Throat / Amour Blush Duo (Shimmering sheer peach and matte peachy pink).
The Beautiful Darling Gift Set is a bombshell. Inspired by Candy, one of Andy’s greatest transsexual actress – this gift set includes Candy Darling Nail Polish (Electric Pink), Femme Fatale Duo Eyeshadow (Sheer white shimmer and fresh mint green) and Woman in Revolt Larger Than Life Lip Gloss (Hot Pink).
I’m a sucker for nail polish. This Photo Booth Gift Set features mini nail polish colours such as Back Room (Black), Soup Can (Perfect Red), Chelsea Girls (Innocent, flesh-toned beige) and Silver Factory (silver). I want this!
Fash-Review: I had the chance to try out NARS Andy Warhol Holiday 2012 collection’s Soft Touch Shadow Pencil in Trash (Vivid Purple) and Larger Than Life Lip Gloss in Candy Says (Shimmering strawberry pink). I love how soft and creamy the texture of NARS Soft Touch Shadow Pencil. I hand picked Trash (Vivid Purple) after swatching all four colours – and it was the perfect choice for me. The first time I tried it, the colour didn’t last very long on my oily lids. I realised that I had to apply more eye shadow base for the colour to last. It is also very easy to smudge and blend with the base colours. As for Larger Than Life Lip Gloss in Candy Says, I’ve to say this colour really surprises me. I didn’t wanted this colour in the first place but it is actually a really pretty colour. Thumbs up!
I used Alhambra Eyeshadow Duo as the base colour before blending with the Soft Touch Shadow Pencil in Trash.
I also tried the NARS Andy Warhol Holiday 2012 collection’s nail polish in 15 Minutes (Lemon Yellow). That’s for another post!
