AFX 2012: What To Buy At Blueprint Emporium 2012

I finally had a chance to visit Blueprint trade show today to check out what’s worth buying for this weekend’s Blueprint Emporium. I only had three hours and I’ve to say I haven’t had the chance speak to all the designers and visit all the booths! To sum it all up, you can expect at least 10% discount off retail price as well as first dips on the sample pieces for the labels’ latest collection at the Blueprint Emporium. For example, Singapore label, DEPRESSION will be selling off their samples and old stocks for 50% – 70% off retail price! If you are looking for a real bargain, come back again on Sunday as most labels will be slashing prices by then. I do know for a fact that ‘some people’ have already ‘choped’ or booked what they want – and ready to shop first thing on Saturday. Well, if you are as crazy as me – you will be there by 11:00am. Because the best pieces will be gone first! Doors open to the public at 11:00am. See you at Blueprint Emporium and happy shopping!

Do check out Blueprint exclusive pieces from Veritas by Carrie K.

I love this Thai label, Urface which collaborates with Thai artists and uses recyclable materials.

Japanese designer, Yuki Mitsuyasu has some of the most delicate, interesting jewellery that you will love!

These beautiful lace Aijek dresses will be on sale with discounts tomorrow at Nana & Bird booth.

These Emma Ware Re:Cycle collection accessories are made from recycled bicycle tyres. Also at Nana & Bird.

I’m a fan of HK label, Mischa. I’ve already booked my clutch from their Travel Series.

Everyone is raving about Lalalove London digital print t-shirts. From $30-60, it’s a steal!

Interesting rings from Thai label, Pitch.

I had a great chat with the designer of Kiki Culte – you can buy and stack them up like her! Plus, they are all handmade.

I met the guys from Modeco, a Japanese sustainable fashion label which makes bags from recycled shoe soles and wood! These totes are only USD85!

Edge of Ember is a chic HK label which makes accessories mostly from brass with gold plated. All handcrafted by Asian artisans.

Check out this book clutch by Thai label, Rouge Rouge. It’s a little pricey though, in my opinion at USD300+.

Singapore-based bag designer Desti Saint will be selling some of her Spring/Summer 2012 collection.

AFX 2012: 3 Reasons Why You Should Be Excited

It all starts now. Singapore’s fashion event of the year, Asia Fashion Exchange 2012 (14 – 20 May 2012) presents one week of fashion with Asia Fashion Summit (AFS), Audi Star Creation Designer Competition, Blueprint trade show and the Audi Fashion Festival (AFF). If you’re wondering what’s happening for the next six days, do refer to this amazing calendar (I’ve to use it otherwise… I’ll be utter confused!). This week, you should get out of your comfort zone and see how you can be a party of AFX 2012 and I will give you five good reasons why you should be as excited as I am:

1. Everyone can attend Audi Fashion Festival 2012 (16 – 20 May, Wednesday – Sunday)

Who says Audi Fashion Festival 2012 is only invited guests? Tickets for most shows including the opening show (Mugler A/W 2012) and closing show (Roland Mouret A/W 2012) are sold via Gatecrash. Both shows cost SGD120 each excluding booking fee but you can get a 10% discount if you use your Mastercard for payment. Good news, tickets for both shows are still available! I am lucky to be invited to all the shows this year. FYI, I used to buy my tickets back in the days and they are definitely worth the buck!

If you want a taste of what you’re in for, watch this runway video of Mugler A/W 2012 at Paris Fashion Week.

2. Shop Till You Drop at Blueprint Emporium (19 – 20 May, Saturday and Sunday)

The first time I attended Blueprint… I didn’t know what it was! For you and me, all we need to know is the Blueprint Emporium. Period. Explore local and emerging designers such as Carrie K, DEPRESSION, By Invite Only, evenodd, Desti Saint, LIQUID by max tan, Mae Pang and many more. I’m curious to browse through collections from designers from around the globe such as Sue Comma Bonnie, Timo Weiland, Yeojin Bae, Yuki Mitsuyasu and DEBB. And of course, shopping always comes first. Make sure you bring enough cash and bargain *eh-hem*!

Which designers are you excited about? Share your thoughts!

3. Party Hard at the After-Parties. Just Because.

Alright, who likes to party hard? The night doesn’t end after Audi Fashion Festival – the party continues all the way to 2am! New York’s The Misshapes, comprising Leigh Lezark, Geordon Nicol and Greg Krelenstein and W Hotels Worldwide Global Music Director Michaelangelo L’Acqua, will be headlining the Belvedere Vodka Official Audi Fashion Festival 2012 After Party With Mugler tomorrow night. This is a by-invite-only event at a secret venue *ssshhh* – but the question is, “Who’s crashing?”

If you missed this invite, do catch Miami DJ Patrick Oliver at Pangaea on Thursday, May 17th for the AFF 2012 After-Party (SGD40 cover charge at the door). Who knows, you might just bumped into Nicola Formichetti – he will still be around! I’m looking forward to check out Timo Weiland at the Tonight We W.E.D Blueprint Welcome Party on the same night at the newly renovated Loof at Odeon Towers. Swing by after 11pm and there will be no cover charge! Check out the list of after-parties here. Be there or be square!

Welcome to Singapore, The Misshapes!

Fash-News: Asia Fashion Exchange 2012 Details Revealed

Yes, it’s the time of the year again - Asia Fashion Exchange 2012! Singapore’s fashion event of the year consists of four major pillars of AFX 2012 such as Asia Fashion Summit (AFS), Audi Star Creation Designer Competition, Blueprint trade show and the Audi Fashion Festival (AFF). I attended the press conference last Friday at Lasalle College of the Arts and gosh, the entire fashion industry was there!

For the newbies, here is a quick summary of what each pillar is all about (according to their official websites, obviously):

Asia Fashion Summit (AFS) – 14 – 17 May 2012: Asia’s fashion business conference in which international key speakers share their knowledge, industry insight and expert views across the fashion board.

Audi Star Creation - 14 May 2012: The Asian fashion design competition organised by the Textile & Fashion Federation (Singapore) ato uncover Asian talents, present them with the opportunity to launch their fashion careers and groom them into tomorrow’s top fashion designers.

Blueprint – 17 – 18 May 2012 (Tradeshow); 19 – 20 May 2012 (Emporium): Blueprint Tradeshow is the one-stop fashion trade gateway for East-West exchange, created to present up-and-coming International and Asian designers. Blueprint Emporium offers exclusive sales of seasonal wares and one-off samples from Blueprint exhibitors and other suppliers and it is open to the public.

Audi Fashion Festival (AFF) – dates unavailable: The biggest fashion event of the year for Singapore which features an international and local lineup of fashion designers, supermodels and parties all happening at Tent@Orchard.

Watch Fash-Eccentric TV for the highlights of Blueprint 2012 and The Brandery Asia showcase.

Lee Hwa Jewellery presents this year’s Blueprint 2012 for the second time. This four-day trade and consumer fashion event, will be held at Suntec Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre from 17 to 20 May. Yes, it’s no longer at Marina Bay Sands. This trade show features the Pre-Spring 2013 womenswear, menswear and accessories collections of Asian and International emerging designers, while Emporium from 19 to 20 May transforms the trade venue to Asia’s defining shopping destination. Tracy Phillips, Program Director of Blueprint 2012 says that the Blueprint Emporium is going to be a”shoppers’ paradise” and the public are encouraged to come and shop directly from the designers themselves. Good news, The Brandery Asia is going to be an extension of Blueprint 2012 this year to showcase the latest in fashion, trends, music and design.

Audi Singapore has come onboard as Star Creation‘s title sponsor and this year, the event has been renamed to Audi Star Creation. This year, 255 entries from 13 countries in hope of becoming the next big Asian fashion designer. This is a record number for the fashion design competition as the number of entries tripled since its inaugural year in 2010. 12 finalists will present their collection and the winners will be announced on 14 May 2012. The top three winners will win SGD10,000 in cash and a one-year internship with leading fashion retailer, FJ Benjamin. These winners will then create their capsule collection under FJ Benjamin’s guidance and compete for the Audi Young Designer Award (AYDA) and additional SGD10,000 cash prize in Audi Star Creation 2013.
