Fash-Review: diptyque L’Art du Soin Skincare Collection

The legendary French perfumer and luxury candle maker, diptyque Paris will be launching their first skincare collection, L’Art du Soin in June in Singapore. I attended the bloggers preview at the Ritz-Carlton Singapore to try the new 5-piece skincare collection. Inspired by traditional cosmetic methods, L’Art du Soin adopts the “slow infusion” method which includes the gentle distillation of flowers, leaves or seeds that conserves all their qualities plus the usage of natural wax with soft, protective properties for radiant, healthy skin. diptyque uses their strength in natural fragrances and their extraction in producing amazing textures that melt on your fingers, transforming powders into airy foam and turning oil into lotion.

diptyque L'Art du Soin Skincare Collection

Infused Facial Water
A substitute for water, the Infused Facial Water is full of vitamins, minerals and moisturising agents. Made from 84% hydrolate of Damask rose, Nasturtium Extract and a blend of nine traditional plants and flowers, the Infused Facial Water is fresh and absorbent, toning and restoring as well as moisturizing. It should be applied before cream for ultimate moisturisation.

Radiance Boosting Powder
Inspired by Japanese rituals, the Radiance Boosting Powder transforms into a light, airy foam within contact with water that gently cleanses skin with its white clay infused with rose petal, jasmine and sweet orange blossom powders. It has an invigorating scent of verbena and neroli. A quick perk-me-up for your skin.

Nourishing Cleansing Balm
This is one of my favourite products from the range: The Nourishing Cleansing Balm for the face is a white balm made from wax, scented with geranium and roses – that transforms into a fine oil between your fingers, then into a milky emulsion upon contact with water to cleanse your makeup, dirt and oil from your face. Best of all, it leaves your skin silky, velvety soft. It is made of sweet almond oil blended with three essential waxes: refreshing ylang-ylang, softening mimosa and astringent geranium, and can be used as a mask.

Multi-Use Exfoliating Clay
Enriched with marble powder, the Multi-Use Exfoliating Clay makes skin pure and light with its super fine kaolin, softening rice and oat powders. This exfoliant can also be used as a mask, then rinsed off with a towel soaked in warm water. Here’s a tip: Add a couple of drops of Infused Facial Water to the mask for double freshness and invigorating action!

Protective Moisturizing Lotion
This versatile lotion can be used on its own, before another cream or even on top of your foundation. You’ll love the intense moisturizing action as well as SPF15 for sun protection. A combination of refreshing Damask rose hydrolate infused with extracts of white lily and calendula, which moisturise, calm and soften, and grape extract which brightens the complexion and acts on pigmentation. It blends the scent of orange blossom with the tangy freshness of Petitgrain Paraguay.

Fash-Review: I also received a mini set of the L’Art du Soin to try during my recent weekend getaway to Penang (since its miniature size is perfect for traveling!). Essentially, this is a basic 5-piece skincare collection. If you are a fan of diptyque, you will appreciate the benefits of its natural, traditional skincare products. For me, I’ll need to supplement this skincare ritual with serums to target my problem areas such as dark spots, wrinkles and etc. I like this skincare range because of its beautiful scent and amazing texture, but I’m certainly not crazy about it. It’s good to try during my weekend holiday but at some point, I need science to fix my problem areas.

diptyque L’Art du Soin will be available from June 2014 at Escentials Paragon #03-02/05 (Tel: 6737 2478) and Escentials Tangs Orchard L1 (Tel: 6734 2122).

Fash-Review: Limited Edition Prada L’eau d’Iris

This Spring, we walk through the iris gardens of Tuscany with the limited edition Prada L’eau d’Iris fragrance. This ephemeral edition of its 2007’s Infusion d’Iris offers a tender, fresh interpretation of the iconic Spring fragrance. Created by perfumer Daniela Andrier, this fragrance is a beautiful balance of Moroccan Mint, Neroli, Pink Laurel, Lily of the Valley, Orange Blossom Absolute and White Musk. You’ll fall in love with its pretty, refined pink and soft green glass bottle encased in a pink heritage crest originally designed in 1919 by Miuccia Prada‘s grandfather. Available from April 2013 at Isetan Scotts, Metro Paragon, Robinsons The Centrepoint, Robinsons Raffles City, Robinsons Marina Bay Sands, Takashimaya D.S., Tangs Orchard and Sephora.

Fash-Review: It’s summer all year round in Singapore and it makes perfect sense to wear a Spring scent daily (except for ‘that’ special occasion). If you’re a fan of the original Prada Infusion d’Iris, you’ll be thrilled to try this new concoction. I love the fact that the scent is floral fresh yet clean and powdery like its predecessor. This is definitely not a weak fragrance as I noticed how well it lasted throughout the day. Overall, it’s a romantic scent that will make you happy like a hopping bunny in Spring! The Prada L’eau d’Iris EDT 100ml is priced at S$142.

Fash-Review: Ivoire by Balmain

Fash-Review: Ivoire by Balmain

It’s time for the signature fragrance of Balmain to start afresh. Ivoire by Balmain takes you on a mysterious Parisian romance with its 2012 contemporary yet fresh version of the famed 1979 fragrance. Inspired by the timeless elegance of the Parisian woman with a strong, masculine personality who loves to travel, this updated fragrance opens with the crisp scent of mandarin, violet leaf and galbanum, follows by the rich floral heart of rose, jasmine, iris and ylang-ylang. The scent ascends to the earthy vetiver, cedar and patchouli before drying down to the familiar warm vanilla.

Fash-Review: Ivoire by Balmain is one of the most beautiful light fragrance for those who love the powdery scent of iris and the familiar scent of the original Ivoire. What’s the difference? Well, the 2012 version definitely starts off with fresh floral notes and dries down to the familiar Ivoire signature scent that you originally fell in love with. I don’t normally pick such a feminine scent but I’ve to say that Ivoire by Balmain definitely grew on me. Just like Chanel No. 5 – it’s love at second sight. If you like a lady-like, clean fragrance that lasts the entire day – this is the one for you.

The Ivoire by Balmain is now available at all Perfume & Cosmetics Stores located at Changi Airport. Ivoire EDP comes in 50ml and 100ml, priced at S$97 and S$139 (w/o GST) respectively.

Fash-Review: Ivoire by Balmain

“This 2012 version of Ivoire incarnates the perfect translation of today’s Balmain woman with a combination of heritage, richness, a touch of nostalgia and remarkable modernity.” – Olivier Roustein

Fash-Review: ESCADA Cherry in the Air

Just imagine cycling through a field of French orchards under the warm sun, as the wind gently caresses your face. Well, imagine no further – ESCADA‘s new limited edition Spring/Summer fragrance, Cherry in the Air celebrates summer with joy and zest. Inspired by the fresh, sweet scent of blossoming cherries, this collectable fragrance is a light and fresh scent which is perfect for young, energetic woman who isn’t afraid of basking in the sun. The scent opens with the enticing top notes of black cherry and juicy raspberry followed by a hint of fresh mandarin. You’ll warm to the heart notes of light gardenia petals, creamy coconut orchid, warm vanilla and a hint of marshmallow for that unique edge. Finally, the scent dries down to the earthy sandalwood, oak and musk blend with a creamy white suede accord.

Fash-Review: Last summer, I was an ESCADA Island Kiss girl. This summer, call me Cherry in the Air. I thought I was going to loathe this sickeningly sweet fragrance, but it surprised me. In fact, it starts off fresh and juicy with a hint of creaminess from the coconut and vanilla. This may not be the fragrance for all – but I personally love the scent of coconut. This is definitely my perfect summer scent. Unfortunately, this fragrance doesn’t have the staying power on my skin (blame the humidity!). If you like Island Kiss, you’re bound to love Cherry in the Air!

Available in Singapore from February 2013 onwards.

Once again… Wonderstruck Enchanted by Taylor Swift

You’ve to admit that whatever the Princess of Nashville, Taylor Swift touches, turns into gold (except for men *oops*). Taylor Swift launched her second fragrance, Wonderstruck Enchanted. Inspired by herself (doh!), Wonderstruck Enchanted continues Taylor Swift‘s magical journey – and I believe she is talking about the first four weeks of her love life.

Wonderstruck Enchanted is the next chapter in the story of my Wonderstruck fragrance. Wonderstruck is about that moment when you instantly feel a connection to someone, but then thereʼs that feeling of being completely enamored – enchanted – when you know a little more about that someone and still feel that strong connection.”Taylor Swift

If you’re a fan of Wonderstruck, you will easily get hooked on this one. Wonderstruck Enchanted blends luscious wild berries and sugar-glazed petals with a balance of creamy flowers and sensual woods. Simply alluring, if you ask me. Good news! Wonderstruck Enchanted by Taylor Swift will be launched first in Southeast Asia by Nuance-Watson exclusively at Perfumes & Cosmetic Stores at Singapore Changi Airport in January 2013.

Fash-Review: Wonderstruck Enchanted by Taylor Swift

I wonder if the whole ‘red’ look was inspired by Taylor Swift’s “Red” album.

Fash-Review: Wonderstruck Enchanted by Taylor Swift

Wonderstruck Enchanted is available in EDP format in 50ml and 100ml, priced at SGD76 and SGD92 (exc. GST).

Taylor Swift as Rapunzel

Annie Leibovitz did a beautiful job photographing Taylor Swift as Rapunzel for the Disney‘s Dream Portrait series. I guess she’s still waiting for her Prince Charming. Enchanted, much?

Fash-Review: DOT by Marc Jacobs Fragrance

Inspired by Marc Jacobs‘ love for polka dots (Are we sensing a Yayoi Kusama crossover?), DOT by Marc Jacobs is the latest, cutest fragrance. You will be amazed from the moment you unwrap the beautiful packaging as the box unveils the Sayuri Shoji in collaboration with Marc Jacobs designed bottle. Cute is an understatement. The key attraction to DOT by Marc Jacobs starts from the bottle as it features the iconic polka dots, an oversized butterfly-inspired cap to secure the gorgeously red round glass bottle with round-shaped butterflies of different sizes perched on the sides of the bottle. Alright, it looks good on our dressing table but what about the scent?

Fash-Review: Hands down, BEST LOOKING FRAGRANCE EVER. The packaging alone makes it a worthwhile buy as gifts for your girlfriends (holiday season is coming up!). As offbeat as its bottle, the top notes kicks off with juicy red berries, dragonfruit and sweet honeysuckle as it energizes with heart notes of jasmine, orange blossom and fresh coconut water. The scent dries down to feminine notes of vanilla, driftwood and sensual musks. This is a light, refreshing fragrance that is more likely to attract the younger women (or even tweens!) with its watermelon bubblegum-like scent. It’s definitely fresh and fun but this is definitely not my cup of tea or for anyone above 30 years old. However, I couldn’t help lovin’ the bottle – but ultimately, is this worth the buy just for the packaging? It’s for you to decide. For those who love Taylor Swift‘s Wonderstruck, this is the one for you.

Fash-Review: Gucci Premiere Fragrance

Ever dream of your own red carpet moment? Well, the answer is right here.Gucci Premiere is the latest fragrance inspired by timeless Hollywood glamour for this Fall. You may already know that Gossip Girl‘s Blake Lively is the leading lady of this new iconic fragrance since I blogged about the breaking news back in June. Think about Hollywood A-lister such as Salma Hayek, Jessica Alba, Cameron Diaz, Naomi Watts and Li Bing Bing have been captivating the public in luxurious evening gowns from the Gucci Premiere couture collection. That’s the essence of the new Gucci Premiere fragrance.

Fash-Review: Gucci Premiere is a ‘sophisticated wood and musk sensation’. Well, that’s according to the press release. The fragrance opens to one of my favourite scents,  bergamot followed by the sweet, celebratory orange blossoms to signify the excitement leading to the red carpet. The heart notes embrace an intense bouquet of white flowers, laced with the sensuality of musk. The base note settles with a subtle smoky leather and creamy balsamic woods for the ultimate glamour. Normally, I’m not a fan of such musky fragrances but Gucci Premiere did take awhile to grow on me. I love the striking, gold bottle which sits pretty on the dressing table. If you’re looking for a scent for the office, this is the one. It’s timeless, serious and all about business. I wish this has a stronger, lasting power as the scent didn’t stick around very long. I’ll take Gucci Guilty any time but for this, I’ll have to sit this one out.

Gucci Premiere Fragrance

Available in early September 2012. Here are the prices for Gucci Premiere Eau de Parfum: Eau de Parfum (30ml) SGD107, Eau de Parfum (50ml), SGD140, Eau de Parfum (75ml) SGD183, Body Lotion (200ml) SGD73, Shower Gel (200ml) SGD63 and Deo Spray (100ml) SGD63.

Fash-Review: ESPECIALLY ESCADA Delicate Notes Fragrance

Imagine yourself floating on Cloud Nine in a sea of roses? Well, you can. ESPECIALLY ESCADA Delicate Notes is the latest fragrance from the House of Escada. It is an airy, fresh and younger interpretation of its predecessor, ESPECIALLY ESCADA. The feminine fragrance is built around a rose heart with a lighter, softer touch. You get a burst of fresh dewy rose and hints of pear before you are lured into the sensual heart of rose petals and ylang ylang. The harmony of the fragrance is finally settled with the exotic, musky Ambrette seeds. Just like a beautiful summer dress, the scent is playful but graceful at the same time. You will love the luxurious frosted, square glass flacon topped with the iconic double E logo. You can just imagine the bottle sitting pretty on your dressing table.

ESPECIALLY ESCADA Delicate Notes fragrance will be available in Singapore from September 2012.

Fash-Review + Contest: Guerlain “La Petite Robe Noire” Fragrance

Every girl who loves fashion can’t live without her little black dress. Guerlain is THE ‘little black dress’ in the world of perfumery. Let me introduce you to the newest addition to Guerlain‘s line of best-selling fragrances, “La Petite Robe Noire” (it’s “Little Black Dress” in French, apt or what?). This fragrance will be launched at Sephora ION’s Launchpad from 30th August to 5th September with exciting makeover activities, and on 1st October in Tangs Orchard and Takashimaya D.S. Read my Fash-Review and scroll all the way down to see how you can win one Guerlain “La Petite Robe Noire” Fragrance.

Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire FragranceFash-Review: Guerlain did it again, but differently this time. Let’s start with first impressions: “La Petite Robe Noire” has a young, sassy Parisian flair that I am clearly attracted to (major kudos to the branding!). I love the idea of an ultra-chic Parisian silhouette dancing to Nancy Sinatra‘s “These Boots Are Made For Walkin'” created by Kantzel + Deygas (duo of renowned visual artist with amazing works in “The Pink Panther”, “Catch Me If You Can”). Genius! The glass bottle is beautiful beyond words and it is almost an exact replica of the 1912’s design by Guerlain’s L’Heure Bleue and Mitsouko. There is a certain ‘Old Hollywood Glamour’ to Guerlain‘s signature scent. I would say it’s a little more bold and grown up that something I would normally wear. At first, you get a burst of femininity with the scent of rose, jasmine and orange blossoms. Following to the floral burst, you can a taste of fruity scents such as black cherry, apple and black currant with sparkling green notes. Last but not least, the scent mellows into a silky, luxurious musk and white amber. I’ve to say the scent may come off strong like “woah” at first but it will slowly grow on you. I’ve come to enjoy the powdery, sensual scent which men definitely will love. A must-have this coming Fall 2012!

Watch the playful, chic Parisian character in the Guerlain “La Petite Robe Noire” fragrance ad. LOVE!

Get Enchanted with Taylor Swift’s Wonderstruck

Like it or not, Taylor Swift is hot and mega-rich. Right now, she’s smelling really good. Her debut signature fragrance, Wonderstruck is inspired by the American singer-songwriter’s personal life experiences (think of life as a 22-year old!) and of course, the name itself is derived from one of Swift’s songs, “Enchanted” from her ‘Speak Now’ album. If you love sweet, fruity notes like freesia, green tea, apple blossom, raspberry and dewberry – this is definitely the fragrance for you. There is a hint of vanilla, honey suckle and white hibiscus before the scent settles for amber and sandalwood with a hint of juicy peach. I feel like I’m having a dessert buffet when I’m wearing Wonderstruck. It may not be suitable for a woman my age *eh-hem* but the young, fashionable Taylor Swift fans may go ga-ga over this.

Wonderstruck is now available at Sephora Singapore. Join the Wonderstruck Instagram contest: Capture a picture perfect moment and tag @wonderstrucksg plus hashtag #wonderstrucksg to win a Wonderstruck hamper worth more than SGD150. Contest ends July 5th, 2012 – so hurry! Wonderstruck Eau de Parfum Spray is priced from SGD69 for 30ml and up to SGD109 for 100ml.

The Wonderstruck fragrance bottle is deep purple with an iridescent rainbow finish, like a magic potion and beautifully adorned with Moravian star, dove, and birdcage charms. The bottle is also embossed with Swift’s lucky number: 13. It will look so pretty on your vanity table, don’t you think?

The American sweetheart is such a fash-icon. I simply love her cute dresses and beautifully coiffed hair.

Watch Taylor Swift‘s Wonderstruck ad and be enchanted by her ethereal Christian Siriano Spring 2011 gown.

Blake Lively is the New Face of Gucci Première

It’s true. Blake Lively cheated on Karl Lagerfeld. The 24-year old actress has signed on as the new face of Gucci Première, Italian label’s new female fragrance. Frida Giannini, Gucci Creative Director, said, “In conceiving this fragrance I was inspired by timeless Hollywood glamour and the iconic leading ladies of Hollywood’s golden era. Blake’s unique style and charisma brings that allure to life in a very contemporary way.” We have been missing Kaiser‘s former muse from the recent Chanel events – perhaps, it was a sign that we didn’t see coming! I think Blake Lively is more believable as a Gucci girl than Chanel (have you seen her cleavage?). Chanel is for Princesses. Gucci is for  femme fatales. Blake Lively, you have been very bad but we will be seeing you in more Gucci.

Gucci Première will be launched worldwide from July 2012.

I’m super thrilled that Drive director, Nicolas Winding Refn will be directing the Gucci Première short film which will debut at a special event during the Venice Film Festival on September 1st, 2012, at 8.00 pm CET.

This is Gucci Première.

How adorable! Blake Lively wore Gucci Resort 2012 to the Smores Charity Cupcake Launch at Sprinkles in NYC.

Valentina: The New Perfume by Valentino

She’s beautiful. She’s seductive. She’s a style maven. Meet Valentina, the new perfume by Valentino. Created by master perfumers, Olivier Cresp and Alberto Morillas, Valentina is a tribute to the sophisticated, modern Valentino woman of today inspired by the fragrance’s muse, Freja Beha Erichsen. You will be drawn in by the freshness of Calabrian bergamot, followed by the charming scent of white Alba truffles. Things get sweeter along the way with notes of jasmine, Amalfi orange blossom, tuberose and ends with a final burst of wild strawberries. Finally, the scent dries down with a hint of cedar and amber. Sounds tempting yet? To me, the sweetness of wild strawberries strongly lingers on. It reminds me of candy – not in a bad way. Honestly, I don’t imagine Freja Beha Erichsen when I spritz on Valentina. This is definitely a young, feminine scent which you can easily fall in love with. Don’t expect to be seduced in a sexy, mysterious manner.

Valentina range of fragrance, body lotion and shower gel are available from March 2012.

The muse: Freja Beha Erichsen.

Valentina eau de parfum is priced at SGD175 (80ml), SGD135 (50ml) and SGD95 (30ml).

The Valentina Body Lotion (200ml) is priced at SGD73 and Valentina Shower Gel (200ml) is priced at SGD64.
