What’s in December’s Bellabox?

All I want for Christmas is… Bellabox! Well, Christmas comes early in this month’s Bellabox because Gummi Nails is in it together with other cool stuff. It’s my first time participating in a sampling with Bellabox and I’ve to say my team enjoyed working with Team Bellabox. If you recalled, we had an event just a couple of weeks ago and it was awesome! It’s exciting to receive my very own Bellabox with my own product! *proud mama moment* Good news, you can now shop for Gummi Nails on Bellabox e-store as well.

If you’re wondering what to get a special friend or family for X’mas, what about a Bellabox subscription? Trust me, they will thank you for it.

Gummi Nails x Depression: Don’t Be Silly

Nail Art is for everyone – including boys! I’m super excited when Depression designers, Kenny and Andrew agreed to collaborate on a special edition nail wrap for Gummi Nails. Don’t Be Silly is inspired by two dysfunctional love birds – each hand represents a man and a woman in ultra-geeky graphics. Believe me, a nail revolution is about to happen as the Depression boys show us how to wrap our nails in monochromatic fashion. Priced at S$16.00, this special edition nail wrap will be available online (www.gumminails.com) and at Depression store (Cineleisure Orchard, #03-05A).

Hey, Mrs Robinson

20130929-083107.jpg

Thank you to the good folks at Tory Burch for my blue Robinson bag from the Fall 2013 collection. To top it up, I was treated with a classic manicure with a Hello Kitty nail art at Manicurious (if you haven’t been, go now!).

Such a treat! How has your weekend been?

Fash-Preview: NARS Fall 2013 Collection

It’s true, I’m like a child in a candy store at NARS cosmetics event. Lucky me, I was invited to preview their Fall 2013: Runway to Reality collection two weeks ago. This season, NARS Fall 2013 collection celebrates with vivid hues of crimson, gold, grey and purple. I was introduced to their new products such as the Radiant Cream Compact Foundation, Brow Gel and Brow Perfector  by NARS makeup extraordinaire, Julian. I’m usually too lazy to draw my brows (because of my bangs!) but he completely converted me to use the Brow Gel and Brow Perfector. Scroll down to check out my swatches and my picks from the collection:

NARS Fall 2013 collection is now available at their beauty counter at TANGS Orchard.

The new Radiant Cream Compact Foundation works like magic! It’s creamy but light as a feather. I highly recommend it!

NARS Fall 2013 Runway to Reality

I tried the Brow Gel and Brow Perfector. The Brow Gel keeps your stray eyebrows in place. I just use the Brow Perfector to fill in the gaps, it’s really simple.

Who Loves Gummi Nails? BRYANBOY!

Did you know that Bryanboy does his nails? I couldn’t help noticing his mint green toe nails during the Charles and Keith store opening. So, I had to ask if he would try Gummi Nails or even wear nail wraps. He said, “Are you kidding me? Of course I would!”. This is a milestone for Gummi Nails (in my opinion!) and I hope to see our nail wraps on his finger nails soon! *squeals*

Introducing Gummi Nails: Singapore’s Designer Nail Wrap Label

Alright, it’s no longer a secret. I started a designer nail wrap label, Gummi Nails with my business partner, Shane Chen in June 2013. It has been an exhilarating journey so far! As you know, I’m obsessed with nail art. I realised how time consuming and expensive it is to achieve intricate nail art. Plus, I wasn’t a fan of the nail wrap designs available in the market. So, I created Gummi Nails.

Inspired by runway trends and what’s trending globally (think Ryan Gosling!), Gummi Nails is a premium quality, easy-to-use and awesomely cute nail wrap label made with love by Team Gummi. Each set of Gummi Nails comes with 20 nail wraps of different sizes, a mini nail file and step-by-step instructions on the packaging. You don’t need to apply base or top coat as our nail wraps come ready with base and top coat. But, I would recommend you to use them for longer lasting nails. Gummi Nails can last up to 10 days with proper application and you can keep applying top coat every other day to make it last longer.

Priced at S$16 per set, you can now pre-order our Fall 2013 collection until Thursday, 22 August 2013 by emailing sales@gumminails.com. If you order two sets, you’ll get a special pre-order price at S$30.

Gummi Nails: Designer Nail Wrap

Gummi Nails is changing the world, one nail at a time. Our Fall 2013 collection features four mini-collections: Endless Summer, Girl’s Night Out, Yoga and Special Edition: Monsters Ink (for Halloween!). You can view the entire collection on our Facebook Page: www.facebook.com/GUMMInails

Fash-Tutorial: Shark Week Manicure

Shark Week started in August 4th but I’m still obsessing about all things SHARKS. I decided to take a break from my Gummi Nails (ooh, have you checked out my new business venture?) and paint my nails yesterday. Here is step-by-step instructions on how to create your own Shark Week manicure (because it’s too cool for school!):

Fash-Tutorial: Shark Week Manicure

Get ready these colours for your Shark nails: Grey, Blue, Red, White and Black.

Fash-Tutorial: Shark Week Manicure

Step #1: Paint all your nails in blue. Simple, no explanation needed.

Fash-Tutorial: Shark Week Manicure

Step #2: Paint a layer of small triangle on your thumb nail with your grey nail polish.

Fash-Tutorial: Shark Week Manicure

Step #3: Next, paint a layer of a smaller triangle with your red nail polish.

Fash-Tutorial: Shark Week Manicure

Step #4: While waiting for your thumb nail to dry, get a toothbrush (mine’s a disposable one from hotels) and pour the red nail polish on a plate. Dip your toothbrush into the red nail polish.

Fash-Tutorial: Shark Week Manicure

Step #5: Flick your toothbrush dipped in red nail polish to create the blood splatter effect. Don’t worry about getting them on your fingers – you can easily clean them off with nail polish remover. Or, get a friend to help with the flicking.

Fash-Tutorial: Shark Week Manicure

Step #6: Use a fine tip nail art brush and draw the shark’s teeth with white nail polish – you may prefer to use acrylic paint because it’s easier. I don’t have acrylic paint so I’ve to make do with nail polish. My shark’s teeth is not perfect. Oh well!

Fash-Tutorial: Shark Week Manicure

Step #7: Use a dotting tool, and dot the shark’s eyes in black nail polish – easiest step everrr.

Fash-Tutorial: Shark Week Manicure

Step #8: Top off with a layer of quick dry top coat. My top coat of choice is Seche Vite, dry fast top coat – the best top coat EVER, in my opinion. Available at Sephora for S$15.

VOILA! SHARK ATTACKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!

Fash-Nails: Blood Dripped Nails As Seen At Prabal Gurung Spring 2013

I may have already blogged about this a couple of days ago. But, I decided to try painting the Blood Dripped Nail as seen at Prabal Gurung Spring 2013 show last September. Instead of Sally Hansen‘s “Angel Bite”, I used NARS“Jungle Red” instead with a dotting tool. I was surprised how much I’m loving this vampish look for Spring. It’s time for you to try it – and here’s how easy it is:

Models flashing their blood dripped nails at Prabal Gurung Spring 2013 show last September.

Fash-Nails: Blood Dripped Nails As Seen At Prabal Gurung Spring 2013

Sally Hansen‘s manicurist, Tracylee used a coat of Top Coat instead of Base Coat to make the bottom layer really shiny. She used a striper brush (and even snipping off the hairs to make it thinner and easier to use) and paint the “blood drip” freehand with Sally Hansen‘s “Angel Bite”. It took her about 15-minutes per model.

How-to: Spring 2013 Backstage Beauty Trends

Ever wonder how to recreate the backstage beauty looks? Well, I do! Inspired by my favorite Spring 2013 Backstage Beauty Trends, I’ve tracked down the key products used to create these trends. I love the strong, defined brows as seen at Marc Jacobs, Jason Wu, Rag & Bone and Alexander Wang‘s Spring 2013 show. Don’t be afraid to have bright eyes as seen at Donna Karan, Kate Spade, Monica Lhuillier and Rebecca Minkoff. Bring out your True Blood as Prabal Gurung nailed it with the latest fab-collaboration with Sally Hansen. It’s time to shop for these babies and start playing:

Spring 2013 Backstage Beauty Trends

#1: Strong, Defined Brows

As seen at Marc Jacobs Spring 2013 show, it’s time to be bold. Recreate this look with NARS Matte Eyeshadow (US$24) in Bengali (top) and Bali (bottom).

Spring 2013 Backstage Beauty Trends

#2: Bold & Bright Eyes

As seen at Donna Karan Spring 2013 show, it’s alright to see pink once in awhile. I love this look created with M.A.C Chromagraphic Pencil in Process Magenta.

Spring 2013 Backstage Beauty Trends

#4: True Blood Nails

As seen at Prabal Gurung Spring 2013 show, we love these bloody finger-lickin’good nails. This limited edition Prabal Gurung for Sally Hansen color, ‘Angel Bite’ will be available in early Spring (anytime now!).
