The 2008’s 60th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards

It’s time to honour the best of the TV industry in America - the 60th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards. Fashionistas will keep their eyes peel on screen - who’s the best dressed and who’s going to fire their stylist. Obviously, I haven’t had a chance to watch the show YET - but I’ll catch the encore tonight on TV. This year, we have a glorious treat of sparkly gowns, shorter hemlines, usual black numbers, bright and bold colored-frocks. Let’s see which one caught Fash-E’s anime eyes:

Weeds is one of my current favourite TV shows. I’m not a Roberto Cavalli fan but Mary-Louise Parker rocks this turquoise Roberto Cavalli gown with delicate jewel-linings. This really shows off her body and I want her body at her age, dammit.

Many celebrities are wearing Reem Acra at this year’s Emmys. However, the best-dressed in Reem Acra goes to Olivia Wilde. Her “delicate chiffon and satin gown with beaded cap sleeves” is young, and ethereal - this is definitely a winner.

Rachel Zoe knows how to make her clients look a million bucks. Because Debra Messing sure does! She looks absolutely stunning in this black ruffle Monique Lhuillier with vintage earrings.

Christina Applegate in a “light blue one shouldered jacquard Reem Acra frock”. Simply dramatic! She pairs it up with purple gemstone earrings that adds a royal, glamorous touch to the whole look. Talk about making an entrance.

Heidi Klum is not my ultimate fave, but she definitely shines in this ” beaded gray Armani Prive dress with asymmetrical tier detailing”. The huge butterfly earrings definitely spice up the entire look. This woman never looked shabby, hurr.

Eva Longoria never looks any less glamourous. She stuns the crowd in this “Marchesa dress adorned with an oversized bow at the bodice”. Critics said it’s too matchy - but I think you don’t have to wow the crowd with bold colours. I like it subtle.

Julia-Louis Dreyfus adds a little tangerine to the party with her cut-out Narciso Rodriguez gown. However, I’m not a fan of that ‘hair’. Bravo to the winners! Be sure to catch the encore tonight.

Avril Lavigne’s The Best Damn Tour, Not

Very ‘important’ school presentation. CHECK. Avril Lavigne’s review. CHECK. Doctor’s appointment. CHECK. I’m back! I haven’t been surfing blogs, or watching Project Runway. Oh man, I’ve so much to catch up too! Not to mention, my exam is just around the corner (well, not for the next couple of weeks) and I need to hit the books soon. My ‘new’ full-time job is robbing 60% of my time. Life is short, I can’t go on like this *whines* But, I enjoy blogging and nothing can stop me *dances*

So, I was at the Avril Lavigne’s The Best Damn Tour on Sunday at the Singapore Indoor Stadium with Lil’ Miss Burpy (who wants to remain anonymous). I wrote a review on the gig for channelnewsasia.com and you can read it here. Yes, I’m shamelessly promoting my own work. LOL. Here are some snapshots from that night:

We arrived on-time. The stadium was only half-full.

Here’s my humble ticket. It says “complimentary”. Just to prove I didn’t pay for it.

That’s lil’ miss burpy. She’s too shy to be featured here. I didn’t take outfit photo. I was wearing my H&M blazer, Threadless tee, and Zara mini skirt with grey tights and Chuck Taylors. Yeah, that was my Avril look for the night.

Glo-sticks, baby!

Fighting with our light-sabers! The fans behind us are a cheeky, loud bunch.

Fans and their pink skull & crossed-bones flag. I want one. LOL.

After an 80-min painful wait, Avril Lavigne kicked off the night with Girlfriend.

The super closet-fan dad with both arms in the air. Your dirty secret’s outtt!

OMFG. A pink piano. Bling microphone. I WANT. LOL.

No elaborate outfits. Her wardrobe is from her Abbey Dawn clothing line. Simple, but cute.

You see the pink skull drum in the background? Haha, adorable.

My Verdict: If you worship Avril Lavigne, her songs, style, or whatever, then this is prolly ‘The Best Damn Thing’ ever. But if you’re like me (a non-fan), you’ll be amused by the fans around you - it’s a great place to people watch. I can imagine those parents feeling the pinch in their pockets by the end of the night (except for the dad in the picture above!). I wouldn’t recommend if you’re a so-so fan. Save your money for say, Motley Crue on Oct 16 at Fort Canning Park? LOL.

Hot or Not: Video Music Awards 2008 in Hollywood

I’ve been ultra-busy lately. I’ve a class presentation tomorrow night (means group meeting every night after work). I’ve a looming deadline for *cough* Avril Lavigne’s The Best Damn Tour review for CNA. Sigh *screams* I’m over-stretched! On top of everything, I’ve a full-time job. Tell me, when am I available to blog? Anyway, I didn’t manage to catch the VMAs yesterday but I saw the pictures from the red carpet. I can’t wait to share! Some amazing, some… nothing to shout about:

Rihanna steals the limelight again! I mean, this girl is a hairstyle chameleon! I love it and her outfit is very superhero-like as well. Is this a winner or what??

Ohh mama! Christina Aguilera looks super hot in this black, glittery gown. Talk about a hot comeback! Lindsay Lohan is a grownup now - she looks spiffy in this shiny purple gown that is surprisingly very decent. No more slutty slutty.

Taylor Swift looks ethereal in her very ‘bling’ gold dress. It’s something about her face - she’s really pretty, in my opinion. I don’t listen to her though. Katy Perry is trying out the pinup girl look but… hmm, doesn’t this emphasise her tummy? I don’t know, it’s not really working for me. Miley Cyrus is playing it safe but chich nonetheless! Pink looks hot, and very punk which fits her image, bravo!

Haha, I like the expressions on the Ting Tings faces! Very “classy”. Ashley Tisdale looks very shiny too - why is everything blinging out this time round?

Nicky Hilton looks pretty… interesting. Haha, I need some time to diget what she’s wearing. I like Keri Hilson’s shoes but the hair and dress - a little too WTF right? I’ll pass on this. More to come!! (If I’m not lazy, or busy).

Free Fall: Agyness Deyn for POP Fall ‘08

Is it me, or this editorial is amazing? Agyness Deyn free falling from the sky for POP magazine’s Fall 2008 issue. Firstly, we have that mysterious photos of Aggy falling naked and now, we see the final product. I’ve to say I’m such a big fan of this work. Where do I get a copy of this mag in Singapore? Basheer?

Spotted: Natalie Portman in Venice Film Festival 2008

Natalie Portman lookin’ casual chic in just t-shirt and jeans - and I love that black clutch! The wayfarers trend is not leaving anytime soon. It has been said that the Venice Film Festival this year wasn’t impressive - oh well. Good times. And, bad times hurr.

Welcome Back, Gossip Girl

*skips* Gossip Girl is back on 1st Sept with the brand new season. I’ve to say, the episode didn’t disappoint. I just realised how much I love the show and its clever witty script. “Karma is a bitch, and so is Blair Waldorf”. Classic. This season continues with more sex, more style and more tongue-lashing between my favourite ‘unrequited love’ couple, Blair and Chuck.

Cute summer look! I love the pink belt. The floral dress. Chuck and fedora.

Oh yeah. I miss the beach. Love the rattan picnic basket and retro-look.

Love hurts. Blair is looking blue after the summer break.

The White Party. We get it. Love love Blair’s dress and her head piece.

Serena’s golden locks intertwined with bling bling. Nice. Even Nate looks casual hot.

Wow. What do you call this? This actually works on Chuck.

Love her vintage-inspired pinup swimsuit! I want!

GG has endorsed bicycles as the next hot accessory! Time to break a sweat!

Mmm, a lovely green print summer dress. How come Blair’s got the best stuff?

That’s Tinsley Mortimer playing herself in GG. Cute gold clutch.

Jenny is back in the game.

Beach-chic. I wish my Bali wardrobe were as cool. Till next week, xoxo.

Erin Wasson & JT in “My Name is William Rast”

How do you make a splash with your fashion line? Do it the Justin Timberlake style. Make three short films and call them, “My Name is William Rast” - create a cool storyline, dress up the character and put a face to your brand. Most importantly, William Rast digs “Birdie”, featuring the leggy Erin Wasson who broke her foot while shooting this line of shorts. Catch the trailer (above) or you can watch the rest of the shorts here. In the meantime, I’m kinda digging the clothes:

Spotted: Asian Style Icon, Isabella Leong

I first spotted Isabella Leong in The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (bad movie, don’t even bother) and I can’t help but think, “OMG, this girl is hot”. Later on, I realised she has acted in several HK films such as Spider Lilies, Missing and etc. Then again, I hardly catch Asian films - and I’ve never seen any of her films. Thank you, Hollywood. Now, she’s following Zhang Ziyi’s footsteps as Mummy 3 is her first foray in Tinseltown. I’ve to say, she has impeccable style as seen on the red carpet. So, keep a look out for Isabella, because I think she’s going to be BIG:
