Bottega Veneta: Special-Edition Nappa for Spring Bud Project

Let me share a guilt-free shopping tip: Bottega Veneta designed a new, special-edition handbag to the Spring Bud Project of the China Children and Teenager’s Fund, a leading charity in China. This means all proceeds from the sale will go into the fund that assists underprivileged girls and young women in education, medical care and job training. Isn’t this awesome? There are a total of 26 customized intrecciato nappa cross-body bag in a new colour called “Bottle” to be sold (Priced at RMB20,770 or approx. SGD$4,180.13) – so, don’t feel so guilty spending that money because you are contributing to a good cause.

The Chinese love symbolism: The rich green hue represents the “blossoming of hope and vitality” for the Spring Bud Project.

In The Mood for Charity: Rodarte x Maggie Cheung

Hong Kong actress Maggie Cheung inspired many artists. In the name of charity, Rodarte team a.k.a. sisters Kate and Laura Mulleavy have designed four exclusive hand-made pieces in a collaboration with Joyce Boutique in HK. “She is as amazing as the mythical place we were inhabiting for the week,” the sisters said of Cheung and Hong Kong. These Maggie Cheung tribute pieces were inspired from four of her films: In the Mood For Love, Hero, Clean and Heroic Trio. To add a little sparkle, Swarovski crystals are also featured in each of the four dresses.

If you would like to give back to the community in style, these dresses will  be auctioned off to raise funds for UNICEF.

Hong Kong famed photographer/film maker Wing Shya directed a visually beautiful short film with the Mulleavys to depict Maggic Cheung‘s films.

Go Red for Women presented by Mastercard

Firstly, I just arrived in TOKYO! Woot! I’m blardee excited to kick start my holiday tomorrow morning. It has been a long day for me. I managed to catch a few winks – trying to catch up on sleep since it has been one crazy week at work. I attended the ‘Go Red for Women’ presented by Mastercard event at St. Regis last Tuesday. “Go Red For Women” is the name of a heart health campaign by the Singapore Heart Foundation. According to the website, “it was adopted from the American campaign to raise awareness that heart disease and stroke is the #1 killer for women.” Here is why the “little red dress is more than just a fashion item – it is a social statement” as well:

Who? What? Where? Cartier Love Bracelet Launch

When Cartier calls, celebrities come out to play. The Cartier Charity Love Bracelet launch attracted big names such as Nicole Richie, Fergie, Madden brothers, Bridget Moynahan, Emmy Rossum, Eva Mendes and etc. It has been said that each guest represented a different charity and contributed their favorite love song to the Cartier Love Charity playlist. How nice. Let’s see who’s looking fantabulous that night:

Print and Pretty
Yeah, we love prints. Fergie is rocking some fierce heels as she strut down the red carpet. Love her legs. Nicole Richie looks lovely with her maternal glow.

Ingenue in Dresses
Emmy Rossum and Chloe Sevigny both look adorable and chic in their dresses. Chloe pinned a vintage-like flower brooch on her dress, nice.

Sister 2 Sister
I honestly think Hilary Duff looks beautiful in the cobalt blue dress and very fierce heels! Love the black nails too. Haylie took a safe choice with a little black dress.

Sexy Duo
Eva Mendes and Eve both looked sexy and sulty in their respective dresses. I never noticed Eve’s wild cat paw tattoo just above her breasts. Absolutely wild!

Look Book: Swirl Swap Swop

After a nice morning swim and yummy Thai lunch, Moe Moe and I trotted down to Swirl‘s shop with a few shopping bags with our clothes on a lovely Saturday. We were clothing swopping virgins and it was interesting to suddenly go “ooh? what? dig now? ahhh! I want!” I managed to grab four random items and I think Moe Moe got three. Not bad eh? That was fun! I forgot my cupcake, haha. Anyway here’s what I wore today:

Top: Little flowers print blouse from HK

Bottom: Capri pants from Esprit

Bag: Red logo handbag from Guess

Shoes: Pink patent flats from Mondo

Belt: I can’t remember!

Okay. I got a couple of comments from close friends of mine that my blouse looks very ‘aunty’. It has little flowers, and it can be poufy if I don’t wear my belt. So, TELL ME HONESTLY… does it really look ‘aunty’? Maybe I am ‘aunty’… I like flowers, but I don’t think anyone likes my top. What do you think?

This Weekend: Swirl Swap Swop & Black Market FRESH

Swirl Swap Swop, Saturday (19 April, 2pm)

This weekend is going to be F-U-N. Fash-E is going to Swirl Swap Swop hosted by the lovely, Swirl Girls. It’s happening this Saturday, 19 April at 2pm – so start spring cleaning! If you’re unfamiliar with the entire concept (swirl swap swop what?)… the Swirl Girls wll give you the 101 on this fun, cupcake madness event:

  • Spring clean your wardrobe. Be ruthless.
  • Stuff a shopping bag full of clothes you no longer fit into, fashion disasters and impulse buys. Someone else will love them, we promise.
  • Come by the Swirl boutique on the day of the Swirl Swap Swop.
  • Empty your bags into a giant pile with the cast-offs from other swoppers, who, needless to say, have extraordinarily good taste since they are Swirl Girls.
  • Rummage through the pile and grab those items you fancy. No cat fights, please.
  • Clothes not taken at the end of the swop can be brought home and the rest will be donated to charity. We have donated all clothes from the swops to Beyond Social Services, the flood victims in Kota Tinggi, Malaysia, and the needy in Ulu Tiram, Johor.
  • Return home with fabulous finds. Mission accomplished.
  • Remember, it’s all free!

Sounds good? Just drop the girls an email at shop@ilovetoswirl.com to let us know how many of you and your gal friends would like to join in.

Gucci Galore!

The Queen Bee of Pop, Madonna hosted “A Night to Benefit Raising Malawi and UNICEF” in NYC. Big names such as Tom and Katie, Demi and Ashton, Drew and Justin, Heidi, Salma, Gwyneth, Gwen *breathes*, Alicia Keys, and etc! Well, we can’t get enough red carpet in February. Here are the fashionistas:

Rihanna in GreenKatie in Red

Rihanna looks stunning in this green Gucci dress that really compliments her skin tone. Green “is” really her color. And, Katie Holmes looks quite ‘spacy’ in this chic folded red dress by Gucci. I really dig this look. Very fashion forward.

Gwyneth in PinkLucy in Cute Black Bow Dress

Looking pretty in pink? Gwyneth Paltrow absolutely look divine in this cute mini. Must be the Estee Lauder ‘Pleasures’ look. To emphasize the “bow” trend, Lucy Liu bounced back from looking like a marshmallow at the Valentino couture show! She looks ultra cute in this sleek white dress with a black bow.
