Birds & Bling: Eco Art Parade of Jewellery 2010 with Prince Albert II of Monaco

YESTERDAY. I met a PRINCE. Haha, too bad it’s not a fairy tale that I could brag about. The Eco Art Parade of Jewellery 2010 is a travelling exhibition from Monaco to Abu Dhabi via Singapore happening from 28 August – 12 September 2010. His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco graced event on Friday night. The 35 exquisite jewellery pieces were inspired by the theme of the “Asiatic Hornbill and the U.A.E.Saker Falcon”. These beautiful blings will be auctioned off and 100% of the proceeds will go to the following charities: Foundation Prince Albert ll of Monaco, BirdLife International, Una Energy Children’s Fund (UNECF), Hafiz and a foundation selected by His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al-Nahayan.

If only I could afford the blings, I could do my part for charity. I guess I’ll leave the bidding games to the rich men and tai-tais.

His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco and the rest.

My favourite piece – I want to wear this neck piece!

Eco-Travel: Chanel Segway, Anyone?

I spotted a dude in corporate clothing on a Segway along Orchard Road as I waited for my bus to work. That’s something I don’t normally see on a Monday morning. I guess more and more Singaporeans are considering Segways as a mode of ‘short distance’ transportation. If I am getting a Segway, I want the Chanel Segway! HAHAHA. It comes with an attached Chanel 2.55 classic flap – isn’t it awesome? Practical, no. Lust-worthy, totally! Uncle Karl, you know we need more than $12,000 Chanel bike – and thanks for tempting us with the Segway!

I Heart Earth Day: Havaianas IPE Collection

Earth Day is just around the corner (22 April). To help preserve mother nature, Havaianas launched a new flip flop range called IPE Collection, where 7% of the sales of the collection go to projects that contribute to the preservation of the Brazilian Rainforest, the Amazon and the Pantanal. Plus, it has been raining like mad these days – so it’s wise to keep flip flops around whether you’re in the office or school. Priced at SGD$39.90, the IPE Collection is  currently available at the Havaianas store in ION Orchard #B2-42.

I Heart Julia Failey’s Eco-Friendly Jewelery

Eco-Fashion is not a fad. In fact, I think it’s here to stay. Chicago-based Julia Failey‘s eco-friendly jewelry range uses “deoxidized sterling is 92.5% silver alloyed with tin rather than copper, making it tarnish resistant and easily recycled”. Her designs are inspired by the beauty of mother nature. I love how rawness and natural beauty of her designs. Her works reminded me of the quaint knick-knacks I discovered in New Zealand. Ah, I’m such a fan.

The Spider Web cuffs are so cool. Love!

Lotus Flower earrings, so pretty.

The gemstone vine ring with diamonds.

Trendspotting: Chic Rides by Vanguard Bicycles Singapore

This post is inspired by Miss Glitzy‘s post on eco-fashion bikes. I discovered Vanguard Bicycles about a month ago. Who are they? They customized and restored classic, limited edition bicycles at their workshop at Rodyk Street. If you’re looking for the one-of-a-kind bicycle, they can definitely do the job. Inspired by art, architecture, music, the ergonomics of each bike is “treated as unique kinetic sculpture/architecture with a distinct character and personality”. Here are some of the bikes which I totally heart:

I. WANT. THIS. From the April 2010 collection, CLAIRE is a beauty. Sponsor pls?

ZETH Stretched Cruiser in matt black is sold. I absolutely heart it.

BYRON is an ultra cool 1960s  restored messenger bike, don’t you think?

I love the baby blue. This ISLINGTON velocommute bike is also sold.

Kim Bum in HAZZYS “Think Green” campaign (and other K-stars)

“Think Green” campaign with oh, oh… Kim Bum!

From LG Fashion, HAZZYS is a Korean ready-to-wear brand – in case, you didn’t know. This month, the label is heavily promoting its eco-friendly message with a group of brand ambassadors such as Kim Bum, Lee Soo-kyung, Kim Hyo-jin, Min Hyo-rin, Kim Ji-suk, and Ki Tae-young. Profits from the sales of the HAZZYS 100% organic cotton T-shirts will be contributed to an environmental organization. Will you buy 100% organic cotton clothing? I wonder. I think I have one somewhere.

Spotted: Karl Who?

Karl Who?

Now, don’t look so surprise Uncle Karl – because eco-canvas bag is not a crime. I first saw this on BB and I thought how incredibly funny this bag is! You could totally personalize your own – but it prolly won’t be so funny unless you’re famous and jaded. Bravo to Uncle Karl for poking fun at yourself :)
