Fash-Eccentric! is a Singapore fashion & lifestyle blog where trendspotting meets high-fashion, e-shopping, celebrity style spy and everything peachy. A place where retail therapy never sleeps.
Here’s a piece of advice: It’s fashion suicide if you do not wear the designer’s clothing to his fashion show. I didn’t make this up. Rachel Zoe said it herself in her show. Luckily, the Korean celebrities got the memo and they all came in 3.1 Phillip Lim to the opening show for Seoul Fashion Week S/S 2010 today. It was a star-studded event with big stars like Yoon Eun Hye (in two outfits), Choi Kang Hee, Gong Hyo Jin, Kim Ha Neul, Kim Min Hee, Lee Ji Ah, Lee Min Ki, G-dragon, Korean top model Kim Daul, Lee Hyun Yi, Kong Hyo Jin, Yoo Ji An, Kang Seung Hyun, and Phillip Lim and etc. You’ll see some military-styled coats, sequins and sparkling gold! Let the red carpet roll…
Bonjour, it’s Paris Fashion Week! Gareth Pugh, fashion prince of darkness, is back with a softer side. His front row boasts big names such as Rihanna, Michael Stipe, Terence Koh, and Adrian Grenier from Entourage. This time, his designs are more floaty and less structured like last season. If you ask me, the models look like anime characters. Villians or Superheroes? You decide. I am quite curious to see where he got his inspiration from – manga? anime? I am thrilled that Pugh has moved on from his hard, shape silhouette to a more romantic side – it’s like a breath of fresh air. You can easily see for yourself.
The Long…
… and Short of Gareth Pugh.
Things you can do with paper shredder. I’m just kidding.
Metallic goddess.
Now, this is what I call the “superhero” look.
OOH, LOVE LOVE LOVE!
Do you think this is appropriate office wear? I’d like to wear these to work.
The guys were not spared by Pugh – lookin’ sharp, boys!
New York. London. How about New Zealand? Like last year, I’ll round up the best of Air New Zealand Fashion Week for 2009. You may not find big names like Marc Jacobs but there are fresh ideas being produced down-under. Rumi Neely of Fashion Toast was seen in Auckland. Pamela Anderson walked the runway – if that interests you! I thought it would be great to showcase some designers that we normally won’t take notice of – here’s your limelight, Kiwi fashion:
Stolen Girlfriends Club
Fringe. Knits. Woolie Boots. Is winter here yet?
Zambesi
Zambesi did it again. I love love love this collection.
Michelle Yvette
For a dark princess, Michelle Yvette makes pretty shift dresses.
Alexandra Owen
This designer is not a trend-follower but has a clear vision of what she wants. I like.
Kate Sylvester
I’m a fan of Kate’s work. This time, she brought punk back in style. Awesomeness.
There I was – sitting, sipping tea in my office on a Tuesday morning. My Tweetdeck flooded with a series of “omg omg omg” tweets about ‘the’ Marc Jacobs Spring 2010 show at New York Fashion Week. Oh, lucky lucky social media fashionistas! I saw the first Twitpic put out by Bryanboy and I got ultra-excited. Marc Jacobs has done it again! I usually write like a digest of the entire NYFW but this deserves an entire post! Marc Jacobs, thank you for a completely random but awesome awesome collection for Spring 2010. I love the kabuki-inspired makeup. I love the fact that he uses flats instead of deadly high-heels. I love how the entire collection is like rojak (note: an asian mixed fruit salad) Like he said, “off with black and studs!” I totally agree – even though I’m still in love with black and studs. Theater. Ballet. Broadway. Bring it on.
Let’s start with my favourite. I love love love the sheer ruffle dress – who can pull this off?
I think I”m infatuated with the unporpotionate volumeness and multiple tiers of tiny ruffles.
Jessica Stam looked like an eccentric Broadway siren in this cut-out suite. Amazing!
And look at what he did to knitwear! Ingenious.
Would you wear these dresses? Check out the upturned-toe platform sandals.
The bags! The bags!
My two favourite Asian models: Du Juan and Tao Okamoto.
Raincoat held together by a skinny belt. Bra over top. Interesting mix-and-match.
Sportswear with a twist. Frills, gimme frills! I’m high on fashion, like literally.
It’s a wrap! Audi Fashion Festival 2009 is finally over. I’m having mixed feelings, really. Sad because it’s over. Happy because I can get back into my routine. A million thanks to the team at Mercury Marketing & Communications (especially Fiona!) for inviting me to the many shows. I had the best experience ever! Yesterday’s Vivienne Westwood Anglomania 09/10 show totally blew my socks off. I love the eccentricity and varied characters that the models play. The show represented what the collection is about: playful, bright and full of energy. The event couldn’t have ended better than this. Enjoy my final videos of AFF09:
Vivienne Westwood Autumn/Winter Anglomania 09/10 at Audi Fashion Festival 2009
Happy Models = Happy People
A pre-recorded video of Vivienne Westwood’s acceptance speech.
Her kind words and “presence” ended AFF09 on a high note.
Long live VW! Till next year, my life is going back to normal once again.
I was bopping up and down when I heard the opening song, “Hong Kong Garden” by to the Siouxsie & the BansheesMarc by Marc Jacobs brought to you by Samsung Mobile show on Friday, 8 May 2009 at the Audi Fashion Festival 2009. Talk about a good music lineup! Amos was tasked to film the show for me – not up to my standard though I had to edit the video to 10-min so YouTube would accept it. Hmmph!
My friends, Jan, Geetha and Amos were there to join me at the show. Hurrah! I really dig alot of stuff that I saw on the runway. Especially the black canvas studded shoes – very yummy. I’m wearing Marc by Marc Jacobs – doh. I love that brand – not rich enough to buy the latest season.
Anyway I’ve to head out to Vivienne Westwood closing show for AFF09 right now! I’m late!
I had the best “seat” in the house for The Ashley Isham Couture Showcase by Lee Hwa Jewellery at the Audi Fashion Festival 2009 on Friday, 8 May 2009. I wasn’t able to upload the entire show on YouTube because it was too long! Boo. And, I exceeded my limit on Vimeo. Here’s an edited version of the show on Friday:
The show kicked start with Singapore singer, Alicia Pan in a glitzy gold number singing “L-O-V-E” (originally by Nat King Cole). I started seeing stars as ultimate bling bling couture gowns paired with Lee Hwa Jewellery walked down the runway with the theatrical-like music. No offence but I seriously didn’t like the Tim Burton-like music.
Otherwise, Ashley Isham definitely pushed it up one more notch for the Singapore fashion industry with his couture collection. I had such a blast! Will be back with more videos. Tonight, closing show – Vivienne Westwood Anglomania collection!
