Home is where the heart is. This year, Singapore label, hansel celebrates its 10th birthday by going back to where it all started – the Heartland. Designer Jo Soh revisited her childhood days growing up in the rustic charms of an old Housing and Development Board (HDB) estate with her latest Autumn/Winter 2013 collection, aptly named “Heartland Collection”. The nation’s numerous blocks of HDB flats transformed into hello hansel‘s signature hand-drawn prints, “Block 10″ and “HDB Block” in nostalgic black and white. The hansel collection features a tongue-in-cheek print with laundry hanging off bamboo poles, propped outside the window in classic HDB fashion. Ain’t that cute? Once again, the lovely Denise Keller fronts another hansel campaign.

Let’s talk about Asian pride. UNIQLO partners with five Singapore designers for a special UT project, “Feel The SEA”: MAE PANG, MASH-UP, OwnMuse, RÊVASSEUR and WSDM. The other Southeast Asian designers collaborating in this project include NIKICIO (Indonesia), JOE CHIA (Malaysia), MOBO (Philippines), GREYHOUND (Thailand) and PAINKILLER (Thailand). Let’s be honest – designer collaborations don’t feel too special these days. But, “Feel The SEA” strikes a chord closer to home. I love the fact that emerging Asian designers had the opportunity to work with a fashion giant like UNIQLO to showcase their work on a global scale. Kudos to the designers and UNIQLO for bringing worthiness back to designer collaborations.
Priced at S$9.90, the “Feel the SEA” UT collection will be launched end of November 2013.
“This opportunity to create something for UNIQLO is undeniably one of the highlights of my short designer career thus far. I have been a fan of UNIQLO’s designs and its quality since before I moved to Japan, and it was a staple in my wardrobe during my four year stay in Tokyo. I am extremely thankful that they liked a few of my prints enough to span over two seasons. Thank you and 感謝しています！” - RÊVASSEUR
“For this FW13 season, MAE PANG explores the idea of perspective through the eyes of the Jurassic age, when prehistoric dinosaurs walked the land. We are proud to present the ”Rex Iris Tee”, in an optical kaleidoscopic ring, and the “What is Unseen is Eternal” optical chart tee.” – MAE PANG
It’s official, this is the VIP event of the month! Charles and Keith celebrated their new Ngee Ann City store opening in style with attendance from the hottest celebrities such as Girls’ Generation (Kim Hyoyeon, Seo Joo-hyun (Seohyun) and Kwon Yuri), model/actor Daniel Henney, celebrity blogger Bryanboy, supermodel Liu Wen, Zoe Tay, Fann Wong, Singapore supermodel Sheila Sim, Japanese blogger Yoshiko Kris Webb and Chinese blogger Han Huo Huo. Girls’ Generation fans were queuing up for more than 5 hours to catch a glimpse of their favourite Korean pop group. I was stunned when I arrive at the store (well, no where near the store!) because there were so many fans and I didn’t know how to enter the event. Talk about creating a buzz!
How was the store opening? INSANE. I must be the only blogger who didn’t get any good photos. After 7 years of blogging, my paparazzi skills did not improve a single bit. I was shoved by Daniel Henney‘s body guard a couple of times. Damn, all I wanted was a good photo (possibly with him?). One of the highlights of the night is catching up with Bryanboy. We met 5 years ago together with ONESIXTYNOTEPAD and it was insane! The fact that Bryanboy remembered our crazy night – that was enough. He is still as humble as ever *salute* Let’s take a look at the photos from the store opening (stay tuned for the fashion show post!):
Hello pioneering Singapore Fashion Bloggers! After more than 5 years of blogging, we are still friends.
Supermodel Liu Wen and paparazzis.
Bryanboy and us – after 5 years.
Zoe Tay‘s arrival – what did I tell you about the crowd? INSANE.
I had a Kodak moment with Han Huo Huo.
Everyone is a paparazzi. Fann Wong look gorgeous in black and white (everyone seems to be in the same color scheme!)
Stanley from Fashionide and I.
Girls’ Generation at the corner. I’ve no idea why because it’s strange.
Daniel Henney squeezing his way out of the store for the fashion show. I’m not a fan of his body guard.

OHHH MYYY GAWDDD. This is really happening. My favourite HK multi-label store, i.t will be opening its first flagship store in Singapore this June in collaboration with Wing Tai Retail (I love you, Wing Tai!). The 10,200 square feet i.t store will be located at #03-15 within Wisma Atria. Fans of i.t (like yours truly) will be thrilled to shop the following labels: izzue, b + a b, 5cm, tout à coup, fingercroxx, Venilla suite, as know as de base, mysty woman and Pageboy. Each label will have their own distinctive area in the store inspired by its Hollywood Plaza store in Mongkok, Hong Kong. I simply can’t wait till the store opens! I’m such a excited monkey!

Two more days to Bangkok! I can’t wait to hop on the plane for a long weekend of good Thai food, shopping and endless massage *bliss* Thai label, Sretsis Spring/Summer 2013 collection, “I Heart You All Over Again“ will make your heart ache in utter happiness. The label’s tenth collection is a beautiful mess of polka dots, pony silhouettes (ooh, and that bag!), cute hearts and bows, and random hearts. The girl in me just couldn’t resist the Sretsis temptation. I’ll be all over the racks this weekend so don’t lure me away from this collection with coconut ice-cream (I won’t fall for it!).
If you’re not visiting Bangkok anytime soon, this impeccable collection will be available at Lula Rock (#02-07 Palais Renaissance) by end of March 2013.
It’s Chinese New Year eve! Inspired by distinctive Asian styles and silhouettes, Singapore’s Om Republic offers a unique range of yoga apparel that will stand out in a crowd of Lululemons. Don’t get me wrong, I still love Lululemon Athletica but it’s time to celebrate diversity on the mat! This Fall 2012, the collection is heavily influenced by traditional South Asian dresses refreshed in new colors. This season, it’s time to fall in love in hues of Sienna, Hibiscus, Rose and Cobalt. I’m particularly hooked on the bright Sienna and I’m ready to make my first order from Om Republic. It’s time to show your support for a beautiful homegrown label! Namaste.

Fans will be delighted to know that Singapore is one of the firsts to celebrate this fabulous collaboration between BAPE and Hasbro. There are six exclusive t-shirt designs available in various colours for men, women and kids. Personally, I think this collection is super cute! Think Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Megatron and Baby Milo hanging out. Priced at SGD119 for kids and SGD149 for adults (men and women), this collection is definitely a collectable.

If only teleporting is possible, I don’t have to miss last Wednesday’s Future Fashion Now (FFN) showcase in Singapore. Just in case it slipped your mind, FFN is “Asia’s first pre-order website that features a curated selection of the newest and most promising designer labels from around the world”. In short, it means you can shop for these young designers’ collections before they hit the stores. How cool is that? Let me bring your attention to Malaysian designer Khoon Hooi. Hailed from Perak (yay, represent! I’m originally from Perak, Malaysia FYI), this lad amazes me with his statement yet super-wearable pieces. His S/S 2013 collection brings back the light hues with no less drama. Next, Elohim by Sabrina Goh draws inspiration from architectural form and has been creating sleek, minimalist pieces since 2009. Her S/S 2013 collection celebrates the feminine silhouette with bright hues of green, blue with black accents.
You can shop for the current season’s collection (delivery within 7 days) and also pre-order the S/S 2013 collection (delivery in early March 2013) for both designers.
Khoon Hooi S/S 2013: Look 01 (Boxy Jacket with back Embroidered Flower & Linen Pants), Look 14 (Chiffon Long Dress with Neon Studs Detail) & Look 19 (2-Tones Neckline Top, Mesh Shorts & Plastic Peplum Belt with 3D Flowers).

Singapore’s Panda-mania continues with The Panda Rock Out last Saturday at the Wavehouse Sentosa. More than 1,000 panda fans clad in black and white to support panda conservation and of course, Chengdu Pambassador 2012. I was excited about fashion line up featuring local designers DEPRESSION as well as Dresstronomy. The boys from DEPRESSION launched their Spring/Summer 2013 ‘Blackout’ collection for the first time, inspired by Pandas! I can’t wait to see the collection in person because they are totally rad. Unfortunately, I missed The Panda Rock Out event – but thanks to technology, I could check out what’s happening minute by minute from various social media.
Congratulations to Sarah and Yun for winning the black & white new iPad from my Chengdu Pambassador new iPad giveaway. Hope you both are enjoying your new iPads!
It’s black. It’s white. It’s DEPRESSION S/S 2013 “Blackout” collection.
