2014 Unique Celebrity Wedding Dresses

All eyes are on the stars when they walk down the aisle. We want to know what and who they are wearing on their big day. Classic is so 2013. This year, celebrities take it up a few notches by making unique choices for the ‘dress of their lifetime': The Wedding Dress. Here are my picks for the 2014 Unique Celebrity Wedding Dresses:

1. Angelina Jolie in Atelier Versace
WOW. Angeline Jolie‘s truly one-of-a-kind Versace wedding dress has to be “the” dress of 2014. Designed by the Donatella Versace and Jolie-Pitt’s children, this traditional “white silk-satin Atelier Versace gown gathered at the bust with elongated train, detailed with the embroidered drawings of her children that got reproduced also on the silk veil. She accessorised her stunning creation wearing a pair of white Versace silk satin pumps.” It may not be a fashion breakthrough, but this is definitely a heartwarming wedding dress that set the bar – real high.

2. Olivia Palermo in Carolina Herrera
You gotta give it to Olivia Palermo for taking fashion risks on her big day. Her 3-piece Carolina Herrera wedding ensemble is “a simple cream cashmere sweater with scattered ostrich feathers and chic white shorts with a full tulle skirt overlay that cinched at the waist in layers of satin and silk and featured a high slit in the front with floral details along the hem.” I don’t even know where to start. Everything about this is modern, fresh and quintessentially, Olivia. I mean cashmere sweater and shorts? So awesome.

3. Piper Perabo in Michael Kors
Talk about unconventional. Piper Perabo stunned the world in a shimmery silver animal-print Michael Kors gown and gold veil when she wed longtime boyfriend Stephen Kay. Kudos to her for standing out from the sea of ‘white’ and she definitely looked like she had a lot of fun!

4. Kaley Cuoco in Vera Wang
Big Bang Theory’s  Kaley Cuoco is pretty in pink on her big day in her custom “petal pink strapless tulle ball gown with sweetheart neckline, hand gathering detailed bodice and hand appliqué Chantilly lace accents. The veil was a nude tulle veil with petal pink floating hand appliqué Chantilly lace.” Who doesn’t want to get married in PINK?! I do! After Gwen Stefani‘s dip-dyed Dior gown, every girl just went wild for the idea of pink. Well done, Kaley!

Meet & Greet: Erika Bearman a.k.a. OscarPRGirl

Erika Bearman a.k.a. OscarPRGirl

Erika Bearman, Senior VP of Global Communications a.k.a. @OscarPRGirl

If you’re invited to meet Erika Bearman a.k.a. @OscarPRGirl, you don’t turn it down. I had to meet the girl behind the famous Twitter handle, who gave us a sneak peek into the glamorous atelier of Oscar de la Renta and of course, she is one of social media coolest girls. I arrived on-time at Trinity Gallery, a luxury bridal boutique located at Raffles Hotel Singapore which carries exquisite designer bridal gowns by Oscar de la RentaMarchesa, Jenny Packham, Monique Lhuillier, Reem Acra and etc. It was lovely chatting with Dr. Elaine Kim, co-owner of Trinity Gallery while waiting for Team Oscar de la Renta to arrive from their lunch appointment. Erika arrived together with Eliza Bolen (daughter of Oscar de la Renta) and Alex Bolen. You could easily spot her smile from a mile away as she greeted the guests at the casual meet & greet session. I didn’t have a chance to have a proper interview with Erika, but here is a summary of our casual conversation over iced lemongrass drink, bubbly and canapés:

On Marina Bay Sands
“Someone told me it’s uncool to say Marina Bay Sands… it’s MBS!” Hmm, for some reason – I didn’t get the memo!

On Movies Watched on the Plane
Erika
watched “Her” on her way to Singapore and she loved it. However, the ending didn’t leave her feeling satisfied.

On Tasting Local Cuisine
She managed to sample local cuisine at The Grand Hyatt’s Straits Kitchen on Saturday night. That’s an efficient way of trying Singaporean hawker delights.

On Her Stay in Asia
Initially, she planned to visit Bali together with her husband but he had to work, plus she had to fly back immediately to shoot their advertising campaign in NYC. Bummer.

On Packing for Asia
She didn’t realised how “tropical” Singapore weather is. Some of her outfits with thicker fabric didn’t work here. However, I think her black tube top and white lace skirt works in our weather!

Richard Nicoll for Topshop Spring Summer 2012: Blushing Brides

Are you finding for the ‘perfect’ wedding dress? Well, nothing’s perfect so why not pick something unconventional? Richard Nicoll is back with his highly anticipated collaboration with Topshop this summer with his Blushing Brides collection. This is the first bridal collection for the British high street label so you don’t have to break the bank for your upcoming nuptials. This five-piece collection’s highlight is the limited edition floor-length wedding dress with a silk bodice, georgette underskirt and peplum in both pure white and pale shell-pink. This bridal collection is available at Topshop Knightsbridge from August 2012.

“I loved the idea of doing wedding dresses with Topshop because I wanted to offer a younger, cooler alternative to meringue culture, something special, but not precious, like my friends, something they would wear if they were getting married. These pieces are perfect as party dresses too if you’re not the marrying kind”Richard Nicoll

LOVE. LOVE. LOVE. You do need have the height and body to pull this limited edition wedding dress.

If you’re looking for an ROM dress, this delicate geometric lace short dress with a floaty silhouette is perfect for it.

Who says wedding dresses must be white? Remember Gwen Stefani‘s dipped dyed pink John Galliano wedding gown. Well, you can channel your inner rock chick with this pale shell pink number at your wedding. Or, this could be a Bridesmaids dress too! I bet they will love you for it.

Another beautiful Bridesmaid number. See the entire collection on my Facebook Page.

Fash-Wedding Spring 2012: Little White Dress for Registry of Marriage (ROM)

There is nothing more fun (and stressful) than planning your own wedding. If you’re just planning your Registry of Marriage or ROM, you might be looking for that perfect little white dress. After two weddings and one ROM, don’t get me started on the ‘price’ of wedding. In fact, my wedding didn’t cost “too” much as I did most of the bargain hunting and even designed my own wedding invites! One of the best places to look for a great bargain is ONLINE. I’m browsing NET-A-PORTER.COM and thinking, “Gosh, I would wear that if I’m getting married!” and voila, this is how this blog post came about. You can find great designer dresses for a fraction of the original price and still look fabulous :) I promise! All you need is a trusty alteration place (I altered both my wedding gowns at Clancy Boutique 04-113 Far East Plaza) and you’re good to go! Here are my favorite picks from NET-A-PORTER.COM and Shopbop.com – remember to shop within your budget:

A feminine, classic choice of this Temperley London Lace Dress in Nude. Priced at £383.41 (U.P. £766.84).

This dress is all the LOVE. I heart the pure innocence of this Richard Chai Love long sleeve flounce dress at US$495.00.

Sexy yet contemporary. You can easily recycle this Roland Mouret Hermia wool-crepe one-shoulder dress for the office after the ROM! Priced at £954.97 (U.P. £1,364.25).

Another one-shoulder dress! I love the softness of this Robert Rodriguez Pamela One Shoulder Cocktail Dress. Priced at US$695.00.

You don’t have to be the Duchess of Cambridge to wear Alexander McQueen to your wedding. I am super duper diggin’ this Alexander McQueen Skeleton-weave fine-knit dress. It’s worth the splurge! Priced at £1,275.09.

I’m taking cue from Sex and the City’s Carrie Bradshaw who went to her own City Hall wedding in a vintage tux. You gotta love this Rachel Zoe Cameron Tux Dress. It’s gorgeous – wedding or NOT!

Embrace your womanhood with this gorgeous Notte by Marchesa One-shoulder stretch silk-crepe dress. Priced at £610.79.

Fash-Wedding: Curzon Hall in Sydney

If you’re wondering what’s up with the lack of updates and website suspension, I’ve got the answer. I was away for more than a week to Aussie for a family wedding in Sydney and a short break in Melbourne. The weather is lovely and the food was delicious. I couldn’t ask for more. The hubby’s cousin got married in a charming castle called Curzon Hall in Sydney. It’s not a ‘real’ castle but the surroundings are so beautiful – simply perfect for a wedding.

A perfect weather for the dream venue.

Congratulations Shaan & Anita!

Love the flower mix for her wedding bouquet!

FIERCE. Vintage Jaguar.

Wedding Favours: LOLLY BAR! I went mad with the gummy bears. Don’t judge me!

Wedding Inspiration: Kate Moss x Jamie Hince in Vogue UK Sept 2011

It’s the other KATE – the ‘rock’ royalty wedding of the year. No offense, Duchess of Cambridge. Isn’t it lovely that Kate Moss in now married? Oh no, she’s not turning down her rock ‘n’ roll energy but her wedding is nothing but pure elegance. In the much anticipated Vogue UK‘s September issue, get an exclusive peek into fashion’s most celebrated wedding of the year – Kate Moss & Jamie Hince of The Kills. Photographed by Mario Testino, I love how their wedding photos are almost editorial-like rather than journalistic. It’s a good balance considering this is KATE MOSS‘ wedding. I swear it brings a tear to my eye when I see her daughter Lila Grace minding her mother’s wedding gown’s train by John Galliano. Everything about her wedding is so beautiful and this is definitely going to be an inspiration to the upcoming nuptials. Brides, take notes!

This is rock royalty. THE red sequin cape says it all. You rock, Kate Moss!

OMIGOSH. I can’t say how romantic, ethereal this image is – 12 bridesmaids and flower girls, and the boys!

The perfect mother-daughter portrait ala Calvin Klein circa 90s. Lila Grace and Kate Moss.

Jamie Hince looks super hot in that red suit. Seriously.

Such a beautiful, vintage-like veil. I’m gonna cry.

This is somewhat dream-like.

White roses by Scarlet & Violet.

How adorable are these teepees for the kids. I wish I’m a kid at Kate’s wedding.

I’m sorry. Who is Pippa Middleton?

All white. The six-tiered cake by Peggy Porschen.

If only fashion designers are my best friends. Pageboy military jacket by Bill Bull.

Edwardian wicker in a lovely English garden.

A wedding is not a wedding without your best girlfriends. It’s the most important day of your life – and you don’t need flaky friends.

A gorgeous table setting.

AFF 2011: Tiffany & Co. feat. Vera Wang from The Link Wedding

Every girl fantasizes of that ‘dream’ ring and wedding gown. I can sum that up in five words: Tiffany & Co. and Vera Wang. Enough said. It’s the epitome of romanticism in New York City and last night’s show at Audi Fashion Festival 2011 recreated the ‘dream’ moment that makes every girl goes “AWWWWW….” (you bet they did!). I’m pretty glad my wedding(s) are over, otherwise I would be taking notes like a bridezilla (and my maid-of-honour cum photographer won’t be happy either… anyway, she was taking notes last night!).  The show kick started with a girl sitting on a bench, and a god-sent gorgeous man walking down the runway with a Tiffany box. Gosh, aren’t we suckers for romantic moments? Of course, he gave her the box and a kiss – life is unfair, ladies and gentleman.

The highlight of the show was the magnificent 28-carat kashmir blue sapphire paired with a black Vera Wang gown. Personally, I fell in love with the grey Vera Wang gown – so flirty and different from the conventional wedding gown. Here are the photos from last night’s show – ladies, brace yourself:
