Singapore Night Festival: Dancing Sky

The Night Festival at the Singapore National Museum started about two weekends ago. Studio Festi from Italy will take to the sky in this specially designed display of light and aerial acrobatic routines. My dad was in town that weekend, so Bubster and I took him to watch a ‘free’ show. The crowd was HUGE but it was worth it. As you can see, I was standing quite far away as well. Here are some snapshots I took (not fantastic though):

Ooh, spinning in a glass?

Look Book: Charm Necklace

Necklace: Charm necklace from Diva

Top: Royale blue blouse from Bysi

Rings: Aroha ring (NZ) and Silver Rose ring (Topshop)

Tonight, I will heading back home for a nice long weekend with my parents, sister and friends. Bubster will be tagging along on our ‘torturous’ 9-hour journey. I’ll try to blog from home, even though I need a break from cyberspace. I’ve also a movie review to write for channelnewsasia.com over the weekend - Journey to the Center of the Earth. I actually enjoyed the film! It would be much fun if it was 3D but I might just go for the IMAX. Brendan Fraser is the MAN.

Anyway, just wanted to show off my charm necklace I bought from Miss Selfridge over the weekend. The original price was $36 and I got it for a cool $13!! Isn’t it like the best deal ever? I also bought a couple of big ass bling rings (not shown in pic) which I’ll show off on another day. So, hello to my HOLIDAY and I’ll be back on Monday. Adios!

Look Book: It’s WAR! Paint Ball WAR!

It’s 4:30pm - everyone is packing up and leaving work. Why? Because we need therapy - get our grudges, anger and some ‘love’ out in the Paint Ball field! So, the gang head down to Red Dynasty Paint Ball field up in the North to shoot some ‘love’. I didn’t like ‘dress up’ or anything - worse, I forgot my shoes and extra clothes! I ransacked the ‘Lost & Found’ and all I got was a white T-shirt and a maternity dress! Of course, I just put on the T-shirt to prevent my tank top from looking like a disastrous art piece. It was great fun, really! My team won the first round and our rivals won the second (due to luck!!).

My very basic all-black outfit. Not paint ball friendly!

Oh yeah, don’t mess with us! We’ve “guns”!!

ARGH!! I’ve been shottt!! By Raymond (crazy dude).

I feel almost like a Power Ranger. Here’s a secret: I was a Pink Ranger.

The Americans are ARMED!

Look Book: Party like it’s 1995!

Dress: Black tube dress from ztamp

Top: Pink/White blouse from Depression

Pink stockings from Takashimaya

Shoes: Silver trainers by Stella McCartney for Adidas

Bag: Black patent bag from Esprit

My friend, Reena turned 25 yesterday and we celebrated with a lovely dinner at Aangan North Indian Restaurant at Excelsoir Shopping Center. It is arguably the best North Indian food I’ve ever tasted in Singapore - considering I frequent Little India alot. The food is rich in flavour. There was a live Indian band playing. This place screams authenticity. There was even an engagement party going on!

After Indian food, we decided to hop over to New Asia Bar since a couple of my friends haven’t been there. FYI, they just moved to Singapore a month ago. Armed with our frozen margaritas and mojitos, we’re ready to party like it’s 1995!

We’ve been friends for more than 10 years. I’ve known Reena since I was in Primary School. Yes, we’ve come a long way from Malaysia to Singapore. I think I might have tipped over my Appletini.

New Asia Bar isn’t really a place to dance, if you know what I mean. We’ve been attacked by a hilly billy and this desperate dude. It’s Reena’s birthday afterall - do we look like we care? As you can see, alcohol is taking effect.

On our way up to our apartment, I couldn’t resist doing the Karen Cheng. I’m a little high, and Bubster wasn’t impress. He couldn’t stop laughing at my cheesy dance moves. Hey, I’m not there to impress - I’m there to have fun and party with my favourite galpal, Reena!! Happy Birthday to you again!!

Look Book: Jelly Gladiators

I was at Great World City for lunch today and I popped by Dorothy Perkins to look look and see see. And, I saw these black jelly gladiators! According to the shop assistant, they just arrived yesterday. I put them on and I saw the “$29″ price tag - that’s it, I HAD to get them! Plus, I only had 5 min before my cab leaves. It’s a great price, don’t you think?

The minute I got into my office, I had to try them on. Despite my aching body (thanks to pilates!), I lift my stinky feet up so Photo Booth can have a good shot of the side view. Haha, boh liao or should I say, nonsensical! I don’t care if the entire Singapore is wearing Gladiators - mine are good for the rainy season and the beach. YEAH!

Originally, I wanted to get these hot pink jelly gladiators from Shop Intuition. Unfortunately, I couldn’t order them online because they required a U.S. credit card. Bummer. I can’t stop dreaming about ‘em since then but hey, I got mine - wouldn’t it be nice if they were pink?

If you fancy a high ankle-strap jelly gladiator, you might wanna consider Old Navy’s version of it.

If you like all things up-marketing, you may dig this. The Givenchy jelly gladiators were seen on Carine Roitfeld and also voted as Style’s Item of the Week. Jelly is fierce, don’t you think so?

Look Book: Operation “Grow X-Wen’s Hair”

Doing the Edna Mole

Here’s me on a typical Monday. I had a trim yesterday - basically to get my bangs back, and trying to straighten my ends because it’s Operation ‘Grow X-Wen’s Hair’. I have short hair for like, the longest time. I never had the patience to grow my hair - and I’ve even explored the option of “hair extensions” and even Japanese wigs. But once my hair grows out - it’s snip snip!! Now, I’m determined to get my hair to reach my shoulders - at the very least. ARE YOU WITH MEEE??

Here’s Edna Mole - in case you’re wondering where I got that strange pose from.

I thought I looked too funny, here’s a more posey take. Everyone is in a meeting except the useless, but resourceful part-timer. BTW, I made it to MNG sale yesterday - and I got three t-shirts. Nothing fancy, or worth showing off. They were cheap so I just grab grab. Have a lovely Monday, people!

Look Book: The Hunt for Bean Curd

Dress: Grey Trapeze Dress from Proportion

Shoes: Black High-Top Chuck Taylors by Converse

Socks: Black with red ribbon socks by Topshop

Bag: Silver handbag by River Island

It’s Sunday again! As I’m blogging, Sunday is slowly slipping away and I don’t even want to start thinking about Monday for very obvious reasons. School is getting more hectic - I’ve a presentation tomorrow night and exam is sneaking around the corner. Then, there’s WORK. Yours truly is truly busy - so I might not be able to blog frequently until mid-July.

I have quite a routined Sunday - just because I never really want to “do anything” or meet people on the day of rest. Today, we had a good breakfast at the bratwurst shop at Plaza Sing basement. After that, we bought our weekly groceries from Carrefour and head home. Then, I studied a little bit in the afternoon by the pool, and had a short swim before our hunt for bean curd. Boring right? That’s my typical Sunday for you.

I like taking the “top down” photos. When I first tried on this trapeze dress, my boy thinks I look ‘cartoony’ but I bought it anyway. It wasn’t very expensive but it was funny looking. I sometimes pair it with tights or stockings but today’s weather was abit hottt. So I decided to show some legs… not that I’ve nice long ones. Alright, dinner’s ready!

Look Book: Rain Rain Come Again!

RAINY DAYS ARE BACK!

Today, I wore my Plueys rain boots to work because it was pouring like crazy. I can’t really think of what to wear but all black - because nothing really goes with my polka dot boots. Anyway, I woke up late and I had quite a bad start - considering I left my wallet at home and missed my bus to work. Tough life hurr? Anyway,  the Bs are having a meeting and I decided to mess around with Photo Booth (hey, I found a way to camwhore during work!). Do you like my cute Herman Miller aeron chair? Hee, I’m proud of it. My ‘office’ isn’t very glam as this is a temporary work space while upstairs is being renovated!
