Look Book: Sunday Buys & Black Market Art

I know, I went shopping at Black Market Art yesterday. What did I get? I got a denim romper and a $2 second-hand straw bag! It’s $2 - I can’t help it. Haha. I normally don’t find anything I want at flea markets - but this time, it’s different. I even bumped into my lovely cafeteria lady, Jay and her family. Talk about coincidence!

Haha, I can’t help but pose for outfit photos. Haven’t done this in awhile!

Denim Romper and Yellow Straw Bag from Black Market Art. Necklace from Diva. Blue Patent Wedges from Charles & Keith. Baby Blue Retro Sunnies from HK.

Now, stop staring at my boobs. It’s quite decent quality for the price!

This is my $2 find! Haha, not really sure if it’s pretty or not. But it’s interesting.

I bought these awhile ago (maybe a month?) to train myself to walk in heels. Let’s call this stiletto for beginners. So far, I only wore this ONCE. I’ve got a long way to go before I get a pretty pair of Manolos.

I also bought myself a new watch called Shading Bow from Swatch. I know, why Swatch? I just love the black shiny strap and the adorable bow. It’s cute - I couldn’t help it. Ooh, my pocket has a teeny weeny hole now.

Look Book: Do I look Depressed?

That’s the Lil’ Miss Guilty look. Well, these are the mailboxes (from IKEA) for both staff and faculty. One day, I saw ’someone’ switching the mailboxes around - and it was kinda funny, if you know what I mean. I’ve been busy busy - and I don’t even know where to start. Exam is sneaking around the corner. Phew! I can’t wait till October. I just need some breather.

A ginger boy snapped outfit photos for me. I bought this cute tee yesterday from Depression, one of my favourite local brands. The designers are a fun bunch and I applaud them for trying to be different - which is exactly what Singapore needs. You’ll see more of their stuff on me - soon.

My T-shirt is WATCHING you.

I like this little tag that comes with my Tee. I used it to pimp my work desk.

My lil’ desk plant is growing. Everyone thinks its fake - haha, it’s one healthy baby! Anyway, it adds some jazz to my boring work desk. I’m still in the midst of pimping it. I’ll show you photos once I’m please with my desk.

Look Book: Sunsilk Style Collection

Ta-dah! Yours truly received a pink goodie bag from the good people at Sunsilk.

This is the Straight & Sleek shampoo and conditioner from the Sunsilk Style Collection.

Travel-size packaging, I like! This consists the entire Sunsilk range for me to try.

Am I Smooth & Manageable? Maybe you’ve to wax me up. Haha, I wonder why I smile like that.

Ugh. This is one heavy goodie bag! X-Wen, OUT.

Polka dot tee from Esprit. Grey denim vest from MNG. Snake necklace from Diva. Jeans from Levis.

Look Book: The Rain Song

It’s 10:15pm. I just got back from IKEA. I went home for a short break, and wardrobe change (since the rain hasn’t stop!). I got my full length mirror (finally!) and some other knick-knacks. This is what I wore to my IKEA trip (note: check out my new hair! It’s really short in the back - I call it my Aeon Flux-look):

Jacket: Sports jacket from MNG

Top: T-shirt from Threadless (I didn’t change! LOL)

Bag: Silver bag form River Island (very over-used, I know)

Bottom: Black jeans from Levis

Shoes: Rain boots from Plueys (Don’t think I should own more than one pair!)

Do you like my boy’s windbreaker/jacket? It’s from H&M - he calls it ‘red neck’ chic.

Look Book: Rain Rain Go Away!

It’s the weekend! It’s a rainy day outside and I’ve lotsa errands to run:

  1. A haircut. YES, I’m bored of my “neither-here nor there” hair. I blogged about Operation ‘Grow X-Wen’s Hair’ as part of my motivation to keep my hair long. I’m giving that up. Haha, sorry. In fact, I’m going to get quite a drastic haircut - you’ll see soon at Fashion Nation’s 2nd Year Anniversary party at Soon Lee tomorrow, 3pm to 5pm - see ya there!
  2. A brazillian (straight up) at Strip. How often do you get one? Honestly, I hate getting the B. Of course, the result is amazing - but is it worth the pain? I clinged tightly to the towel or sometimes, I’ll bite it - really hard. I’m such a sucker. Anyway, Bali trip is only four days away - I’m doing this for the bikini.
  3. IKEA trip. I need a full-length mirror like since forever. I’ve a bad history with breaking mirrors (in particular, IKEA ones) - so 14 years of bad luck? Anyway, I bet this one is going to be good. I don’t care. And, some other organizers for my crazy, bursting wardrobe. Yikes.

Top: T-shirt from Threadless

Bottom: Slouchy shorts from Uniqlo

Accessories: Necklace from H&M

Yearbook Yourself: Blast From The Past

I know. I know. I haven’t been blogging for this week. My friend, Terence was helping me to move Fash-E to a U.S. server, and finally it’s all done! I’ve been having bandwidth problems - and finally, this should help me a little. Now, we’re back in business. Janice sent me this link to Yearbook Yourself, which you can plaster your face on ancient yearbook (or cliche) styles. We had a lot of good laughs at each other’s retarded faces. Here’s the GREATEST HITS from my Yearbook faces all the way from 1950s!

I think I can actually do AFRO!! How about butterfly glasses ala the late Lydia Sum?

Haha, this is hilarious! Which is the best look? Or most retarded? Can’t decide!

Weekend in Mono

Weekends are too short. They come and go before you can even enjoy it. I spent my weekend in the company of friends and a significant other. I also celebrated by belated birthday with some old friends. Then I took a new colleague out on his first night out in Singapore (fresh from NY!). BTW, yours truly is on a job hunt. It’s not because I hate my job (In fact, I enjoy it very much!) but I would like to work full-time instead. I welcome any leads for an exciting new opportunities/freelance projects - writing, fashion-related, public relations, marketing etc. Do email me at xwen@fash-eccentric.com if you know any company that is in need of a hardworking, motivated Mass Communicator. I’m open for discussion and I’ll even buy you coffee :)

Shop, Eat Guide to Hong Kong: Day #2

Day #2 <31 July 2008>
It’s Day Twoo! Bubster and I head down to Central in search for Dim Sum breakfast at Maxim’s Palace (2nd Flr, City Hall). The HSBC building caught Bubster’s eye as he ‘educated’ me that this is apparently it’s one of the most expensive buildings ever built. Its skeletal structure just takes your breath away.

We were about an hour early - so we just sat around, planning our itenarary of the day. And finally, some good food!! I love Dim Sums - especially ‘har gau’, ’siew mai’ and my pan fried radish cake! Bubster is satisfied with just ‘Char Siew Pau’. There’s also a good harbour view - unfortunately, it was raining that day.

After our delicious brekkie, we walked over to The Peak to catch the tram up. The weather wasn’t really good but we still went all the way up to the Sky Terrace with umbrellas! I couldn’t help but took a picture with McDull the pig. Bubster found stamps for collectors, as he tattooed himself with McDull.

If you’ve seen Forrest Gump, you may remember his famous line, “Anyway, like I was sayin’, shrimp is the fruit of the sea. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, saute it. Dey’s uh, shrimp-kabobs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There’s pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich. That- that’s about it.“. Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. is inspired by the 1994 film. We didn’t eat there (too stuffed from dim sum!) but we bought some souvenirs. LOL.

Still at The Peak, we visited Madame Tussauds, wax museum. Here’s Michelle Yeoh, my home girl - well, at least my home town is close by to Ipoh, does that count? And, who doesn’t love Marilyn Monroe?

I couldn’t help myself with the props around! Ooh, tu-tu skirt! I want one. Brangelina, hurr. Brad, you made babies with the wrong girl!! Have you seen the photos of their twins yet?$ A whoppin’ 19 million for the photos! Talk about being millionaires before you can walk!

Do you like my tune, Mr Jay Chou? He looks ultra-greasy. LOL.

SUPERMODELS: Naomi Campbell and Elle Macpherson. Too tall for my liking.

From Material Girl to Sumo Girl. I’m a chameleon! Till Day Two, Part Two. Night!
