SFF08: Matthew Williamson Spring ‘08

Oh yes. The wait is over. The Singapore Fashion Festival 2008 kicked start yesterday night with Matthew Williamson’s Spring 2008 ready-to-wear collection. Unfortunately, Fash-E wasn’t there to report you with first-hand photos and scoops or rub shoulders with the who’s who in Singapore’s fashion industry. No worries, we got these photos fresh off AsiaOne.com and we’re totally crediting their hardwork (Lucky for some!). Here we go:

SFF08: Matthew Williamson Spring 2008 Ready To Wear

Bohemian MagicErin Conner, face of this year’s SFF strutted down the runway in a relaxed gipsy-like dress. They don’t call Matthew Williamson, “The King of Boho” for nothing. I absolutely dig the idea of tie-dyed scarve tied around the neck for the spring look. Definitely something that you can D-I-Y and make it work for the everyday look.

Ruffles. Ethnic Prints. Combat Shorts.Women’s Wear Daily said that his collection is inspired by “an English rose who’s decided to ramble around the world”. I couldn’t have describe it better. I love the ruffles, Indonesian batik prints and chiffon combat-shorts. And, the laced-up heels! Yum. Doesn’t Emma Pei looks ultra-sexy?

Electic ClashWho would have thought bright pink and brown gold undertone skirt clashes so well? How about stripes and tie-dyed colours? The chiffon top just speaks of spring, and it’s no wonder A-list stars such as Madonna, Keira Knightly, Sienna Miller and Gwyneth Paltrow are fans.

Black is BohemianBlack is Spring’s hottest colour, or so he says. The black maxi-long is ruffle-lovely! If you can notice, the waist of the maxi has African beading to add a lil’ eccentricity to it.

Flirty. Sexy. I heart all his cute flirty dresses! The colours, embroidery, global prints and the revival of cheesecloth are a celebration of feminity and timelessness.

Mysterious Airy FairyFinally. The urban-hippie look doesn’t end. I can’t make out the mysterious prints of feathers, or animal spots or floral. The airy fairy ruffles are exotically gorgeous. You know you want more, because I do.

LA Fashion Week: ‘Nicholai’ by Nicky Hilton

The little Hilton sister, Nicky Hilton’s ‘Nicholai’ Fall 2008 fashion show captured alot of attention at the Mercedes-Benz 2008 LA Fashion Week - but kinda for the wrong reasons. Yes, eyes were on Paris Hilton and Benji Madden who ‘almost’ stole Nicky’s center stage. More importantly, how did Nicky fare as a designer? I think she has ’some’ substance ;) I like the black/white striped cardigan that is commercial and very wearable.

Nicky said in an interview with Fabsugar, “The inspiration this season was equestrian, but I wanted to make it a naughty and nice. It was equestrian meets bondage and S&M, hence the latex leggings, patent leather buckles, and the whip. I wanted it to be sophisticated, tasteful, and edgy at the same time.” Her collection teases the essence of  “schoolgirl” naughty and yet, pretty classy. She didn’t do too bad, since her ‘Chick‘ collection last Spring.

Project Runway 4: Finale Favourites

Who loves Project Runway Season 4? Isn’t the season like sooo amazing?

The suspense is finally O-V-E-R, and I know who won. I was sitting in bed with my boyfriend, perspiring all over his hands as Heidi announced the winner. And, I’m proud to say that my “favourite” won *eviiillleee laugh* Like, totally fierce. However, this has been quite a season! Definitely the toughest ever, I mean I honestly couldn’t predict the winner. I love all three finalists’ collections for different reasons. Here are my favourite looks from Bryant Park:

Project Runway Finale: Jillian Lewis

Jillian Lewis’s collection is flirty and girls, you know you love it. I honestly heart her collection. Despite its inconsistencies, I love each outfit on its own. Jillian’s style is very wearable, innovative and eccentrically cute.

Project Runway Finale: Christian Siriano

Christian Siriano is sooo fierce. I’ve been rooting for him since the beginning. At only a young age of 21, he’s a natural-born designer. Christian’s collection burst out dramatically and his ability to manipulate the color ‘black’ is amazing. His collection flows smoothly and every outfit is an eye-popper.

Project Runway Finale: Rami Kashou

Rami Kashou bounced back into the game after a gruelling match to compete for the final spot in the Project Runway finale. I’ve to say, his collection is prolly the most meticulous and well-made. You’re going to see Rami’s work at Hollywood’s red carpet because celebs are going to be knocking at his door!

Gisele Sizzles at Sao Paulo Fashion Week 2008

It’s fashion gone wild! Make noise for Made-in-Brazil supermodel, Gisele Bundshen at the 2008’s opening of Sao Paolo Fashion Week in Rio de Janeiro. Reports exclaimed the frenzy reaction at Gisele’s strut down the catwalk for Brazil’s famed high street label, Colcci in just three outfits.

Her incredible ’supermodel’ presence is one of the main attractions at this year’s Fashion Rio. The loudest noise was made when she walked down in the puffy beige dress (picture: left) and red plaid boots. Let’s just say as one of the richest models in the world - she certainly banked in mega $$$ for her lil’ strut!

SFW 06: Runway Highlights

It’s a splash of rainbow colours and glamour at this year’s Singapore Fashion Week. Let’s take a look at the fashionable highlights of Singapore Fashion Week 2006:I love the construction of this yellow dress and how the collar coils into a huge rosette at the bottom. That’s innovation, baby.We can’t get enough of bubble dresses! This sea-blue bubble dress comes with a twist. It doesn’t end at the bubble - ah, corny I know.Doesn’t it look like a dessert decor on her head? Well, I’m not a big fan of it but I think it’s still quite amusing. The attention is drawn towards her head, not the dress unfortunately. This dress feels very “summer” to me. But, it’s all-year round summer for Singaporeans no? It looks flowy and comfortable. Not ground-breaking but nice.I love this dress! Prolly my fave among the lot. The color combination is gorgeous and fits perfectly on the model. The top is hot, the styling is strange. Haha, its like phantom of the “runway”, if you ask me.Sweet dress, not crazy about it though.

80s: What a Feelin’!

The 80s is back and smokin’ hot! Bring back the black leggings, hot pink and polka dots. Even Madonna and Jessica Simpson has caught unto the 80s bug in their latest MTVs. Here are some catwalk inspirations that you can adopt, yeah, 80s mojo:This is my top pick! From Giles, this figure-hugging hot pink dress has the modern look with the 80s vibe. That’s what I call a “reinvention”.This lovely smart-casual dress by Maxmara looks juicy with the boots! I absolutely love the styling for this look. There is definitely something 80s about it - oh yeah, leggings. HAHA.I love the royal purple! This Giorgio Armani 2-piece outfit is beautifully styled with non-tacky polka dots and ooh, love that pretty hat. I heart this entire look. It’s like the bad Stepford’s wives.Black is eternal. You’ll never go wrong with this essential color - only with the right design and cut. This fantastic black piece by Blumarine win hands down for my fave black piece this season.

Fall Trend: Shine with Metallics

Shine on! Metallics is rocking this Fall/Winter. In fact, Style.com compiled a fantastic catwalk showcase on how to work the Metallics. You don’t need to look like a Cher-Gone-Wrong in the 70s in Metallics. Read on and learn from the style experts on how to shine through the crowd.Famed for their luxurious leather goods, Bottega Veneta steals my attention with this shimmery leather trenchcoat (Not “practical” in sunny ol’ Spore but hey, it’s holiday season!). Who would have I thought I would have a soft spot for shiny fabrics? Bling it on!Dubbed as one of fashion’s shooting stars, Sophia Kokosalaki is a winner in this beautiful beautiful shiny gold tube dress! It’s heavy metal at Burberry Prursum! This striking layered skirt is a must-have! This is a definite head-turner at clubs and I could already picture it swirling in the crowd. Woot!Gucci does it again. Such a fantastic bronze dress with gold undertone. I would wear this to the Awards (Haha, if only).Get shimmery with this lovely pearl-like flare pants by Parisian brand, Balmain. It flows beautifully without screaming “Tacky!”
