Luxury Meets Film: Bleu de Chanel x Martin Scorsese and Other Filmmakers

I’m very surprise that Chanel got “one of the greatest filmmaker of all time” Martin Scorsese to direct the Bleu de Chanel, men’s fragrance ad. Is this a recent phenomenon for luxury brands to engage notable filmmakers to direct their ads and more ambitiously, short films? Sofia Coppola directed Miss Dior Cherie and a recent one with Natalie Portman. Then, Zoé Cassavetes for Louis Vuitton‘s Hide and Seek – an ethereal film set in London featuring the Summer 2010 collection. Who can forget that super stylish Gucci Guilty short directed by visual extraordinaire Frank Miller. Now, Tisch Alumni Martin Scorsese! That’s like a BIG DEAL. I can’t wait to see more famous filmmakers collaborating with fashion.

It’s like marrying both of my passions into a perfect piece of art.

Vogue Italia September 2010 Goes 3D with Miranda Kerr!

I never thought much about Miranda Kerr to begin with. But, this Vogue Italia September 2010 cover changes everything. In this special 3D issue (comes with 3D glasses!), Miranda collaborated with celebrity photographer Steven Meisel for this futuristic editorial spread. This mummy-to-be is smoking hot even if she was two-months preggers during the shoot! Interesting. Now, where do I get a pair of 3D glasses to look at my own blog post? HMM.

I was on the bus, looking at the red carpet photos from the 2010 Primetime Emmy Awards this morning on my way to work. Thank goodness for iPhone! Let’s see, this year we spotted old-Hollywood glamour, various textures, navy hues and lotsa sparkles! For the “Ultimate” Best Dressed, I can’t decide whether I like January Jones‘ Versace or Anna Paquin‘s Alexander McQueen better… there’s no way I can pick only ONE! Here are my favourites from the 2010 Emmys red carpet:

ELECTRIFYING! I <3 everything about this metallic blue, textured gown by Versace.

Anna Paquin stands out in this bold gold/black Alexander McQueen number.

Emily Blunt‘s lavender asymmetrical Christian Dior gown is so romantic.

Sanrio Baby Milo Store 2010 Launch in Singapore with NIGO

It is unusual for me to wake up early on Saturday but today is not an ordinary weekend. NIGO, founder of A Bathing Ape launched the highly anticipated Sanrio Baby Milo Store 2010 in Singapore at 11am today. Hello Kitty and Baby Milo made a special appearance at the BAPE store – in fact, they flew all the way from Japan! The queue started to form long before I arrive – lucky for me, I got first dips into the collection. I already knew what I want but of course, I was tempted to get more! By noon, almost everything was sold out - WOW! Everyone was only entitled to purchase two items. Judging by the success of the Sanrio Baby Milo Store 2010, I bet the Dr. Martens x Sanrio boots will sell like out cakes on 1st September. Mark my words.

Yayyy! I finally met Alexa Chung and talked to her (briefly – but still…). Thanks to CLUB 21 for the fabulous invite to the party of the MONTH at Tanjong Beach Club, Sentosa! Ahh… bliss. This party not ‘all’ about Alexa Chung. It’s the launch of the Mulberry Autumn/Winter 2010 collection – and yes, the theme is Naughty Royalty. Surprisingly, I didn’t spot too many Mulberry Alexa bags tonight – I guess everyone didn’t want to risk carrying the same bag! Alright, I’m tired – need sleep. Will blog more tomorrow when I upload the video of the Mulberry A/W 2010 show featuring two adorable pups – a Pug and a French Bulldog! Cute or what?
