Red Carpet: The Oscars 2009

Yippee! I’m still beaming with excitement from this year’s Oscars! The fabulous gowns, fresh winners and gosh, Hugh Jackman *swoons* Slumdog Millionaire deserves every award the film received – because I honestly think it’s the best film this year. Some people call it’s a crowd-pleaser, and some think it’s overrated. I think the film rocks – and yes, Danny Boyle finally got the recognition he deserved. Let’s focus our attention to the Oscars red carpet trend and best dressed: We see alot of beautiful fishtails (yes, we’re talking volumes!), belts (that’s new!) and of course seeing red, red, red! I’m very pleased with most of the red carpet moments – I think this has to be one of the best Oscars to date:

My pick for Best Dressed for the night. Kate Winslet stunned the world with this dramatic one-shouldered, silky, and multi-textured Yves Saint Laurent gown and shoes. A clear winner, don’t you think?

Penelope Cruz became the first Spanish Oscar winner. Congrats! She turned heads with this 60-year old voluminous ivory sweetheart vintage Balmain dress with lace detailing.

She may not be an Oscar winner, but Marisa Tomei hit the high notes with this silver-hued mermaid gown with an insane train by Versace.

In my humble opinion, Anne Hathaway is the modern Audrey Hepburn. Her modern-classic beauty sparkled in this sparkling, slender Armani Privé gown. It’s so beautiful, I can’t breathe.

Natalie Portman sweetened up this Grecian-inspired, orchid pink Rodarte gown.

Evan Rachel Wood made her way into the Best Dressed list in this soft champagne Elie Saab gown.

Angelina Jolie is one classy mama in this black Elie Saab gown with striking emerald earrings.

I’m in love with this girl. Freida Pinto rocked her Oscars debut in this sapphire, one-sleeve gown by John Galliano with Indian-inspired detailing. Love, love it.

Sarah Jessica Parker is not leaving her Carrie Bradshaw “tulle” behind! She wore this “barely mint” gown by Christian Dior Couture – such a ethereal, whimsical pick!

As one of the beauties in red, Amy Adams stood out in this strapless red Carolina Herrera gown and a colorful jeweled bib necklace by Fred Leighton.

Jennifer Aniston looked gorgeous in this shiny Valentino gown. Pretty!

Finally, congratulation to all the winners of this year’s Oscars!

Red Carpet: 2009 Golden Globe Awards

It’s the 2009 Golden Globe Awards! I haven’t seen Slumdog Millionaire (yes, lucky american and aussie friends have been raving about the film to me) but I’ve been a big Danny Boyle fan since Trainspotting. The trailer kicks alot of ass, and I’m sure I’ll love the film. I’m happy that Danny Boyle is finally getting the recognition that he deserves. Four GG awards! Next, the Oscars. Back to style spotting, let’s check who dazzled the red carpet at this year’s Golden Globe:

Stunning! Eva Mendes nailed this Dior white gown with turquoise accessories.

Double-winner tonight, Kate Winslet goes black in this strapless YSL gown.

Anne Hathaway sparkled in this navy Armani Prive gown.

Love, love Kate Beckinsale in this strapless, mermaid-style J. Mendel gown.

Interesting layers. Mary-Louise Parker in a sexy blue Carlos Miele gown.

Angeline Jolie looks angelic in this silver beaded gown by Versace.

Eva Longoria turns heads in this red Reem Acra frock with a scalloped bust detail.

Salma Hayek brings sexy back in this beige Dior creation.

I’ve never seen Drew Barrymore looking so glamourous. Another Dior gown.

Pretty in Lavender. Olivia Wilde gives a girly vibe in this frothy Reem Acra gown.

Anna Paquin looks ultra chic yet simple in aubergine Herve Leroux gown.

The 2008’s 60th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards

It’s time to honour the best of the TV industry in America – the 60th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards. Fashionistas will keep their eyes peel on screen – who’s the best dressed and who’s going to fire their stylist. Obviously, I haven’t had a chance to watch the show YET – but I’ll catch the encore tonight on TV. This year, we have a glorious treat of sparkly gowns, shorter hemlines, usual black numbers, bright and bold colored-frocks. Let’s see which one caught Fash-E’s anime eyes:

Weeds is one of my current favourite TV shows. I’m not a Roberto Cavalli fan but Mary-Louise Parker rocks this turquoise Roberto Cavalli gown with delicate jewel-linings. This really shows off her body and I want her body at her age, dammit.

Many celebrities are wearing Reem Acra at this year’s Emmys. However, the best-dressed in Reem Acra goes to Olivia Wilde. Her “delicate chiffon and satin gown with beaded cap sleeves” is young, and ethereal – this is definitely a winner.

Rachel Zoe knows how to make her clients look a million bucks. Because Debra Messing sure does! She looks absolutely stunning in this black ruffle Monique Lhuillier with vintage earrings.

Christina Applegate in a “light blue one shouldered jacquard Reem Acra frock”. Simply dramatic! She pairs it up with purple gemstone earrings that adds a royal, glamorous touch to the whole look. Talk about making an entrance.

Heidi Klum is not my ultimate fave, but she definitely shines in this ” beaded gray Armani Prive dress with asymmetrical tier detailing”. The huge butterfly earrings definitely spice up the entire look. This woman never looked shabby, hurr.

Eva Longoria never looks any less glamourous. She stuns the crowd in this “Marchesa dress adorned with an oversized bow at the bodice”. Critics said it’s too matchy – but I think you don’t have to wow the crowd with bold colours. I like it subtle.

Julia-Louis Dreyfus adds a little tangerine to the party with her cut-out Narciso Rodriguez gown. However, I’m not a fan of that ‘hair’. Bravo to the winners! Be sure to catch the encore tonight.
