Coco Rocha, move away – there’s a new red head in town. I haven’t color my hair in ages, 2 years to be exact! When I received Hoyu Professional‘s festive gift, I immediately thought that I should color my hair to kick start the new year. On Friday 13th, I went to SensesCut Hairdressing (#02-82 Far East Plaza) for my haircut and color. I picked Hoyu Professional’s Promaster Color – well, my lovely hairstylist, May Ee suggested to get a red hue for my hair. It’s not the first time I had red hair so it was no biggie. May Ee is certified as a ‘Color Master’ unlike the usual hairstylist who knows how to do everything but master of none. In Japan, hair coloring is a designated profession – that’s why they are more ‘pro’ in coloring hair.
The ‘Before’ look. My very out-of-shape bob.
Hoyu Professional has very low ammonia content. It doesn’t stink at all!
Spoilt for choice! I thought the silver was kinda cool.
After the hair cut. Still normal lookin’.

Watch this UFO-lookin’ thing cooking my hair. I’ve never seen this before!
Ta-dah! The final product. I’m the new red head after 3.5 “hungry” hours.
I LOVE IT!
(pls don’t mind my aunty cardigan – cold laaa)
I know. I know. I’m bad at keeping my hair long. I’ll never get out of my bob. Seriously. I went to my regular hairstylist and asked for bangs – again. I ended up looking very China doll-like. I wanted this “chomped up” fringe – I don’t know if this suited me or not. It can be very edgy if I wear dark eye liner or striking makeup. I’m too lazy for that. I need a lazy haircut. Oh well, hair will grow.
Hoyu Professional gave me a complimentary haircut, colour, treatment whatever. I can’t wait. I’ve heard alot about Hoyu and all. I’m saving my appointment before Chinese New Year. I promise – new colour, new look. I hope it kicks ass!!

To fur or not to fur?
PETA, hold on to your flour! Agyness Deyn might be wearing faux-fur. Well, I wouldn’t know really. Firstly, Aggy is known to wear fur on the runway and to event as well. Recently, she has been spotted with fiance, Albert Hammond Jr at The Humane Society‘s Cool vs. Cruel ceremony, honoring those committed to fur-free fashion. I’m confused with where she stands in fur vs anti-fur – help! Anyway, I can’t help but notice her new hair style, very blonde china-doll. Heart or not?

See the anti-fur stamp on her t-shirt? That has to mean something.

David Gan may not be a familiar face to my fellow foreign readers. But, Asian readers will know this celebrity hairstylist who built a brand name for himself by creating beautiful tresses for Asian beauties such as Zhang Ziyi, Zhou Xun and local actress, Fann Wong. He is recently named “Asian Beauty Hair Maestro” by premium Japan aircare brand, Asience.

David Gan with Zhang Ziyi! Read his adventures on his blog here.
OMFG. Carina Lau! *gasps for air* Lucky David!
Have you tried Asience? Jan recommended the brand to me earlier this year. To be honest, I thought the launch TVC featuring Zhang Ziyi was ultra-cheesy which you can watch it here. I get the whole “made for Asian” message but it doesn’t make me want to run out and get the shampoo. Yet, I decided to try it. You know what, I love it. My hair just feels ultra-smooth and bouncy. I’m still not a fan of the shape of the bottle (hey, aesthetics is important!). I wouldn’t know if this shampoo works on Caucasian hair or whatever – but if you’re Asian, give this a try. It’s really worth your buck.
The New Shine Therapy shampoo is for rebonding addicts, color-holics and perm queens. I used to torture my hair to the max years ago. I tried every hair colour that you can imagine. I burn my hair with ugly perms. Don’t even remind me how bad I look last time! I tend to have very bad experiments when it comes to hair. Where was this when I needed it most? I gave it a try anyway… and my VERDICT: My hair smells lovely and feels awesome. My hair does need a little more shine and it gives a nice layer of sheen. Go try!
I went for a haircut yesterday. My bobster needed an overdue snip snip and I decided to get rid of the clean lines, and go bedhead. That means more layers and uneven lengths. I love it. I wish my fringe is a little longer – I could do a Kate Lanphear but nah, I hate it when my hair pokes my eyes. I thought of colouring my hair, but I was too lazy to sit in the same spot for 2-hours. Maybe next time.
The same shape, but messier. Ignore the eye bags.
Longer on my right.
Shorter on my left. Have a good weekend!
It’s my last weekend of freedom before school starts. Yikes!
