Sex and the City Movie: London Premiere

This is the fashion movie of the year! The stylish quad walked down the red carpet at the London premiere of ‘Sex and the City: Movie’. Everybody is going to blog about this (well, almost everyone!). So is the movie a hit or a miss – I wouldn’t know until the film premieres in Singapore in the upcoming week. And, you’ll hear from Fash-E first.

Sarah Jessica Parker rocks the red carpet in a green tulle and feathery Alexander McQueen dress and “Fred Leighton diamonds with an amazing Phillip Treacy hat, complete with green roses and yellow butterflies”. It’s refreshing to see her play to her whimsical ‘Carrie Bradshaw’ alter-ego. SJP is never boring, I love it!

Cynthia Nixon does classy with this plunging black metallic Calvin Klein dress. It’s sophisticated and alluring. My friends and I were talking about our favourite SATC character – I think I have a little “Miranda” in me and of course, a fraction of “Samantha” and maybe “Carrie”.

Red is the colour of sexy. Kim Cattrall picks red as the colour of her night. Unfortunately, I am not a fan of this asymmetrical red dress by Vivienne Westwood. The silhouette is not visually appealing and the hair, oh… what happen. Sexy, is not the word to describe Kim’s choice.

Kristin Davis looks demure and stunning in this vintage red chiffon Guy Laroche Couture dress. I always admire anyone who dares to take the risk with a vintage number – especially when there is a fine line between looking classic, or looking old. For Kristin, she absolutely nailed the look!

Only 16 more days before SATC opens in Singapore! Are you exciteeeed? I’m receiving tons of emails for the SATC: Movie Contest. Maybe I should hire the parrot fortuneteller from Tekka Mall to pick the winners for me.

Spotlight: Atalanta Weller

(Photo: House of Holland)

This is the girl who made a stiletto shoe from BMW car parts. Enough said.

Atalanta Weller simply redefined “innovation” in fashion, and reinvented shoes - entirely. This newcomer, and little-known name popped up in this year’s London Fashion Week as one of the collaborators for ‘House of Holland‘. In an interview with UK’s Telegraph, Weller said “It’s a proper collaboration. [Henry Holland]‘ll tell me roughly what he wants, I’ll go back to him with sketches”. Her infamous “wicked glossy spike-winged wedges” spotted on Agyness Deyn (see above), has caught the attention of shoe enthusiasts and fashionistas. She said in an interview with i-D magazine that her shoe design influence originates from “a ’50s Cadillac meets Las Vegas neon aesthetic” - wow, I don’t even know I can digest that.

I find Atalanta’s work very inspiring. I mean, car parts?! Absolutely crazy but cutting edge. The above stiletto shoe was created from “reconfigured BMW parts while design collective TO22 sliced through the 1-series at an angle, creating a shimmering silver laser-cut hanging, backlit by red film lights, that worked well in the cavernous concrete space of the London location”. The metal spike heel and tyre-rubber sole combo is an instant killer formula. You know what my boy said, “It’s the only way you get boys to look at your shoes”.

HAH, well said. I’m going to chop up someone’s BMW tonight.
