I’m very surprise that Chanel got “one of the greatest filmmaker of all time”Martin Scorsese to direct the Bleu de Chanel, men’s fragrance ad. Is this a recent phenomenon for luxury brands to engage notable filmmakers to direct their ads and more ambitiously, short films? Sofia Coppola directed Miss Dior Cherie and a recent one with Natalie Portman. Then, Zoé Cassavetes for Louis Vuitton‘s Hide and Seek – an ethereal film set in London featuring the Summer 2010 collection. Who can forget that super stylish Gucci Guilty short directed by visual extraordinaire Frank Miller. Now, Tisch Alumni Martin Scorsese! That’s like a BIG DEAL. I can’t wait to see more famous filmmakers collaborating with fashion.
It’s like marrying both of my passions into a perfect piece of art.
Martin Scorsese‘s Bleu de Chanel starring sexy Frenchman Gaspard Ulliel.
Spotted: Natalie Portman liplocking for the latest Dior ad directed by Sofia Coppola.
Kirsten Bell has graduated fromher ‘Veronica Mars’ days since 2007. But, who can forget her teenage ‘Sherlock Holmes’ character … until now. Ladies, Kirsten Bell has stepped into the world of high fashion in the latest WWD editorial affectionately called, Bell Epoque. In this photoshoot, she adorned luxurious garments and accessories from Louis Vuitton, Dolce & Gabbana, Christian Dior, Balmain, Lanvin, Harry Winston and etc. Oh, Kirsten Bell, you have really evolved beautifully.
Look who’s traveling in style? Thanks to Louis Vuitton, the FIFA World Cup Trophy is flying first class in its new special order LV monogram case. Supermodel Naomi Campbell unveiled the spectacular travel case on June 1st. According to High Snobiety, “Commissioned by FIFA, the special order case, handmade by a single master craftsman in Louis Vuitton’s historic Asnières workshop near Paris, has been meticulously designed to accommodate the celebrated Trophy, which measures 36 cm in height, weighs 6.175 kg and is made of solid 18-carat gold with a base of semi-precious malachite.”
It’s WORLD CUPSEASON! Yay, I’m super excited. WHICH COUNTRY ARE YOU SUPPORTING?
Bye Bye, Miss America Pie. Make way for Miss Hot Lips, one of the industry’s most sought-after model Lara Stone. Photographed by Steven Meisel, Lara Stone is the new face of Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2010 ad campaign. Creative Director Marc Jacobs was looking for “modern, iconic, sexy beauty” and he found Lara Stone. Excellent choice, I say. “It was a wonderful shoot,” continues Marc Jacobs. “Doves were flying, the atmosphere was sexy and magical, and the result is a set of images that are desirable, colorful, whimsical and, of course, luxurious.” In this campaign, Lara Stone channels Brigitte Bardot as she sprawled beautifully on a bed of moss, fern and doves. Featuring the “metallic Monogram canvas and sun-bleached Monogram denim bags, furry foxtail charms, hardware-inspired jewelry and wooden clogs embellished with rustic tufts of fur”, this ethereal ad campaign definitely looks better than the last season – at least to me. Do you like it?
Paris Fashion Week is heaven. I noticed something similar about the Chanel Spring 2010 RTW and Louis Vuitton Spring 2010 RTW: CLOGS. I don’t know about you but I was like, “Really?” I really like the Chanel versions but the fringy, suede peg-heeled LV clogs, I don’t know. I really really dig those new Chanel stockings with ballerina lace details! And, that chain-like garter belt, So awesome! You’ll be hearing these clogs banging away on pretty marble floors before you know it. This is what the good people from style.com said about clogs,“If it’s good enough for Karl, bring it on”. I think they’re cute! Now, where are the cheaper alternatives?
i-D’s Erika Kurihara and Gareth Pugh were spotted by Jak & Jill enroute to the Louis Vuitton show. That reminds me that I left my favourite black jacket (seen here) in Melbourne. And, I prolly need one for Tokyo. Boo!
I can’t wait for Gareth Pugh at this year’s AFF! Enjoy your Good Friday.
New York, New York! Let’s put the gloomy recession mood behind us and enjoy the glitz and glamour of New York Fashion Week 2009. I maybe a little late with the NYFW report, but better late than never right? So as you can see, Bryanboy is swinging his way from one fashion show to another – and hugging Hamish Bowles, Carine Roitfeld and Marc Jacobs. Super jealous! Susie Bubble is mobile-blogging for Dazed Digital with Julia Roitfeld. Let’s take a look at the highlights of one of the most coveted shows in NYFW: Marc Jacobs. At the backstage, MJ said, “The collection is all about clubbing in the ’80s, when New Yorkers could have fun, be creative. Not like now . . .” So enjoy the party because the 80s is back!
AMAZING!
That’s what I’m talking about.
See the Stephen Sprouse influence from his Louis Vuitton collection?
