Singapore Fashion Bloggers Meet Bryan Boy

Pardon me, I’m still stoked at meeting Bryan Boy with the local fashion bloggers last night. This wasn’t planned.  In fact, it was so last minute that I couldn’t believe everything just fell into place. Thanks to Stephie who quickly smsed me about the drink session. We didn’t have everyone’s mobile numbers so we only managed to contact a few. BB is really really really nice, and I had this misconception that he might be a little ‘diva’ but I was so wrong. You’ll be surprise, really. He’s jetting off today back to Manila. BB, we’ll see you very very soon - you promise! Enjoy my very picture-heavy post:

My lame attempt at pouting for camera. BB is such a natural! Jealous.

Stephie and Dottie from Fashion Nation. Hafiz from Streetsnaps.

Me and TraiT. Dinie from Posh Palette. We couldn’t help camwhoring at Klee!

Bloggers playing paparazzi for the day. Can you blame us?

Stephie suggested that we camwhore with “I Love Bryan Boy” sign made by Hafiz.

Woohoo! My declaration of love for BB.

The gang loves BB too. Thanks to Hafiz who prepared it!

Walking along Portsdown Road. No cabs at wee hours!

Stephie, on the phone with Comfort Cab! Alas, we had to walk to AYE to hail for cabs.

Always a moment for camwhoring! Zhiqang and I.

Hafiz and I. He’s a darling!

Dinie’s a cool cat. Very genuine fella.

At Tantric. It’s getting hot in errrrreeee!

The other side of the table. Gettin’ cosy!

Tralalala. The entire group! I love the cheesy background.

Kissy… Kissy…

BB bag by Marc Jacobs and Peggy dress by Swirl. Belt by ZARA.

Hafiz looked like he just won lottery. Stephie got “poked” from behind.

BB making sweet love to a trash bin and err, what’s that thingy?

Oh no, you didn’t! What’s going on?

Another group shot before Tantric management kicked us out.

Black gloves, baby.

Dinie’s bag is really interesting. Look what’s inside!

Random gay dudes. The left one was hitting on BB! Dark-skin one offered a fag.

It was a fantastic night. I had a total blast!! Let’s do this again, ladies and gents.

Bryan Boy is One Lucky Bitch

My jaw literally dropped when I read that Marc Jacobs named a bag, BB - after famed blogger, Bryan Boy. Not just a bag, but the entire style - including the androgynous ad campaign! I like how Cole Mohr rocks the female outfit and not look strange. Then again, it’s fashion - nothing’s strange in this business.

A free bag and a personal note from Marc Jacobs *jealous*

Cole Mohr lookin’ ultra hot in MJ.

Love the big bow dress!

Yes Bryan Boy, you’ve made it - lucky bitch.

I Heart Marc Jacob’s Fit Flop

(Photo: Marie Claire)

Forget the Gladiators. This summer, shift your attention to Marc Jacob’s fit flop - a combination of a Gladiator and a flip flop! The latest sandal design is creating the buzz among fashion enthusiasts, and they’re not even in-stores yet. Over 1.2 million fit flops have been sold since last year, the new Aurelia style has a waiting list of thousands.

Are you getting your hands on these yet?

Marc Jacobs Resort 2009

For the love of Marc Jacobs, I’ve always love his fresh, bold ideas that he sent down the runway. I’m no fashion expert but so far, I like what I see. I don’t necessary approve his choice of Victoria Beckham as his muse but let’s focus on the designs, shall we?

Colours That Pop!
Royal purple. Cobalt blue. Super hot pink. I likeee. I love the white sling bad and blue tulip skirt. What do you think about the pink headband/cap - what is that?

Flashy in White
It may be a YSL reference but I’m lovin’ the white designs. The colour is timeless yet so modern at the same time. Marc Jacobs insists we show some toes.

Take a Bow
Are we feelin’ black bows this season? The bow with gold trim belt is ingenious, I love it! However, I’m not such a big fan of the sheer dress (left) - just a little too much don’t you think?

Flowers and Rosettes
We’re seeing more florals. My absolute fave of the resort collection. Electric green ankle boots! An absolute killer. I can imagine Carrie Bradshaw pulling this off.

Ruffle Hearts
So, we’ve seen this on Victoria Beckham at the CFDA Awards. I’ve to saw it’s pretty innovative but I think I’m a fan of the bows.

Dots in B/W
There you have another gladiator with polka dot suit with shorts. Classy don’t you think? High-waisted bottoms are not going anywhere.

Dark and Navy
Feelin’ blue? Because it’s looking very cool in these Marc Jacobs.

Square + Black
It’s time to think out of the box. Black is never boring especially with interesting cuts and silhouettes. We’re feeling big neck pieces and black shades, aren’t we?

Trendspotting: Hippie Headbands

You know what’s hot? I’m seeing hippie headbands making waves in fashion blogs and lookbooks. I can tell you that I’m absolutely digging this style. It’s a simple accessory that adds a vintage touch and brings out the bohemian princess in you! Forget about thick, colourful headbands ala Gossip Girl - because the 60s are back to style your lovely mane.

(Photos: Littledoe)

Based on Lulu of Everybody is Ugly’s recommendation, Littledoe is an amazing fashion discovery! It makes be want to wear a unique headpiece like tomorrow (if I get my hands on one, or… DIY!). The lookbook is sooo beautiful, and it has such a surreal look or treatment. Anyway, Littledoe headpiece is “one of a kind and entirely handmade from the highest quality antique materials”. Do contact them if you want your very own.

(Photos: Fashion Toast)

Rumi from Fashion Toast also sported a thin braided hippie-like headband for her vintage eBay shop, Treasure Chest Vintage. She’s prolly one of the more stylish fashion bloggers around - and I really like her sunshine-kissed skin tone and long blonde hair. Sigh, I wish my hair is longer. Another thing about hippie headbands - they do look better on silky long hair. Adds to the bohemian flavour.

Here’s an example of headband crime commited by our dear Mary-Kate Olsen when she wore an 60s-inspired Marc Jacobs headband from his Fall ‘08 collection. The fashion forward Olsen, basically jumpstarted the trend - in a rocky and err… furry fashion. When Rock.The.Trend blogged about this, I thought maybe I couldn’t get used to the idea of a furry headband - on a hindsight, I think it’s fug-ing fugly. I like my hippie headband thin, and pretty - not like some roadkill.

Here’s a weekend D-I-Y project for moi: Create my own Hippie headband. Anyway, Happy Labour Day! Woot.

The Rainy Day Style Guide

Rain Rain go away.
Come again another day.

The rain is not going away, at least for the next couple of days or even weeks. Today I ‘almost’ got caught in the rain, but after 5 minutes of deliberation - I decided to call for a cab. Do you find yourself in the rainy day fashion dilemma: What to wear? Which shoes won’t get damaged in the rain? Which pants to put on because I don’t wanna soak them up? And, umbrellas! Which one to match what I’m wearing? But, don’t let the rain dampen your style, here’s Fash-E’s suggestioins of what you can wear to brighten up your rainy day:

No #1: The Trusty Trench Coat

(Photos: Nordstorm)

I can’t express how much I love L.A.M.B. and Marc by Marc Jacobs. These trench coats are my faves. Gwen Stefani has hot style, and this L.A.M.B. triple pocket leopard-print trench coat is totally fierce. And how can we forget the classic yellow trench made chic by Marc Jacobs! I like this ‘Flash’ double-breasted trench coat that is soo cute and loud! You’ll definitely look super flash, walking in the rain in these fabulous trench coats. I wanttt!

(Photos: MSN.com & Burberry)

I saw this red hot MNG by Mango trench coat at Takashimaya recently. And, I absolutely dig it! This would be perfect to stand out on a rainy day and still feel fabulous. If you’ve a higher disposable income, you can try to get your hands on these lovely Burberry Packaway trench coat with gold pipings and gold finished buttons. Super classy.

No #2: The Wellington Boots

(Photos: Nordstorm)

Nordstorm carries a range of adorable, and pretty boots that you’ll never leave home without! I heart the cute, whimsical ladybird Western Chief Rain Boot that is sure to make anyone smile. For the corporate and office ladies, you can opt for Trotters ‘Blast’ Rain Boot with Faux Fur. The black patent adds confidence to the boots. Who loves cupcakes? This deliciously pink Chooka Signature Printed Rain Boot is packed with lotsa fun and yummy cupcakes!

(Photos: Plueys Singapore)

Plueys never goes out of style. Fash-E blogged about the cute boots back in September 2006 and now, they’re finally available in Singapore via Plueys Singapore! I’ve placed my order on ‘Lotsa Dots’ (first from left) and I can’t wait till my Plueys arrive - hopefully soon, before the rainy season ends! There are other funky prints - so go to their website and check it out. Retailing at SGD$85, place your order with the nice Plueys girls.

No #3: Brollies or Umbrellas!

(Photos: Anne of Loudounville)

The funny thing about brollies, is that the expensive ones never last. The cheap aunty looking ones is always the sole survivor. Maybe it’s just me… I constantly find myself in some sort of umbrella drama. We want clear PVC brolly such as this one from Clippykit of London which has “16 pockets to fill with photos, badges, kit bits and so much more makes this a fun filled personal brolly to use in rainy days” - how fun is that? This Guy De Jean Femme et Chien Parasol is a “delightful cream parasol by Guy de Jean with alternate panels showing an elegant lady and her cute little dog, trimmed with a contrasting black frilled border”. It even has a sun protection of +50 as tested by the French Textile Institute!

(Photos: Raindrops)

Extra! Extra! Read all about it! You might risk people sneaking a peek at your brolly if you carry Adult II Marchesato Newsprint Umbrella. This Italian made brolly has a push button for automatic opening! Also the newsprint are in different languages which adds to the uniqueness of it. Fancy some pinup girls? Take this Adult Chantal Thomass Pinup Umbrella to draw some sexy attention! You’ll love this French-made umbrella with actual drawings by Chantal Thomass, the famed lingerie innovator. Now, don’t you dare hum Rihanna’s song ela ela ela…!

90s Flash Back: Dungarees are B-A-C-K

The last time I wore an overall was when I was 12. Yes, a denim overalls from Sportsgirl. And, I honestly admit that I l-o-v-e wearing it back in those days because Alex Mack was always wearing an overall (and I secretly thought she was cool). Hey, I was only 12 and still watching Nickelodeon. Gimme a break. The point is dungarees and overalls are smashin’ their way through the couture scene. As you know, they’re not the most easiest or the prettiest thing to wear. Although, here are some “inspirations” from the runway and the indies after a touch of refinement and style:

For Spring/Summer: Mayle, Rachel Comey, and A.P.C. (source: Refinery29) The spunk still stays as overalls never look so hot pairing up with nice heels.

From Marc by Marc Jacobs. I absolutely heart the denim dungaree with the layers below! Totally sweet! (source: iamfashion)
