Bestest TV Style: Week [3 - 7 Nov]

BUSY TIMES AHEAD. Yup, school started yesterday and work is starting to get a little crazy. In a way, it’s good because I’ll be occupied before my big year-end break. Then again, I’ll have to juggle ‘blogging’ and ‘meeting dad & friends’ on top of everything else. Not enough hours in a day, as usual. Last week, Gossip Girl gets saucier as lil’ J turns into a fashion rebel. 90210 parties hard and someone gets into trouble in her new pair of hot boots. Lipstick Jungle continues (I’m blogging two episodes here) and I’m still lovin’ The Rachel Zoe Project. It’s totally bananas!

Gossip Girl: “There Might Be Blood”

Lil’ J is looking super hot! Love that hair piece!

Serena needs some love. Erm, that’s Jenny’s punk design.

90210: “Secrets and Lies”

Silver is gorgeous. Steal her look here!

Naomi and Adrianna tone it down a notch.

High-school fashion has never been so cool. I miss Dylan McKay.

Lipstick Jungle: “The Lyin’, the Bitch & the Wardrobe”

Victory models her own designs with a lil’ bit of wine.

The fashion show.

Aww.

Lipstick Jungle: “Let The Games Begin”

Grownups, dress a lil’ more posh.

The Rachel Zoe Project: “Award Season, that’s Bananas!”

I know the season has ended but I love this show! Bring in Season 2!

Wedding dress shopping at Marchesa.

Picking for vintage jewelry for the Oscars. A dream job.

Testing gowns on the models. Fun!

The 2008’s 60th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards

It’s time to honour the best of the TV industry in America - the 60th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards. Fashionistas will keep their eyes peel on screen - who’s the best dressed and who’s going to fire their stylist. Obviously, I haven’t had a chance to watch the show YET - but I’ll catch the encore tonight on TV. This year, we have a glorious treat of sparkly gowns, shorter hemlines, usual black numbers, bright and bold colored-frocks. Let’s see which one caught Fash-E’s anime eyes:

Weeds is one of my current favourite TV shows. I’m not a Roberto Cavalli fan but Mary-Louise Parker rocks this turquoise Roberto Cavalli gown with delicate jewel-linings. This really shows off her body and I want her body at her age, dammit.

Many celebrities are wearing Reem Acra at this year’s Emmys. However, the best-dressed in Reem Acra goes to Olivia Wilde. Her “delicate chiffon and satin gown with beaded cap sleeves” is young, and ethereal - this is definitely a winner.

Rachel Zoe knows how to make her clients look a million bucks. Because Debra Messing sure does! She looks absolutely stunning in this black ruffle Monique Lhuillier with vintage earrings.

Christina Applegate in a “light blue one shouldered jacquard Reem Acra frock”. Simply dramatic! She pairs it up with purple gemstone earrings that adds a royal, glamorous touch to the whole look. Talk about making an entrance.

Heidi Klum is not my ultimate fave, but she definitely shines in this ” beaded gray Armani Prive dress with asymmetrical tier detailing”. The huge butterfly earrings definitely spice up the entire look. This woman never looked shabby, hurr.

Eva Longoria never looks any less glamourous. She stuns the crowd in this “Marchesa dress adorned with an oversized bow at the bodice”. Critics said it’s too matchy - but I think you don’t have to wow the crowd with bold colours. I like it subtle.

Julia-Louis Dreyfus adds a little tangerine to the party with her cut-out Narciso Rodriguez gown. However, I’m not a fan of that ‘hair’. Bravo to the winners! Be sure to catch the encore tonight.

2008 Cannes Film Festival Best Dressed

The 2008 Cannes Film Festival has finally ended. Everyone cheered Laurent Cantet’s The Class which is the first French film to win the Palme d’Or Award since 1987. Fash-E has seen some fabulous couture gowns and designer dresses during this event. Fabsugar collated the best dressed and here’s our take on it:

Fash-E’s Best Dressed Award goes to… Natalie Portman in Givenchy! All the talk about the big volume, I don’t care. I think the origami-pleated dress is flirty and very young.

Gladiator heels! I’ve been seeing gladiators everywhere in town now. Gwyneth Paltrow makes this Giuseppe Zanotti for Balmain gladiator heels look red-carpet worthy by pairing it with a sleek black Celine dress.

In all royalty, Dita Von Teese is looking classy in royal purple Jean Paul Gaultier. I’m impressed by the way the long purple beads trace the silhouette of the dress.

The Queen of Pop, Madonna looks like a billion bucks in Chanel couture. This fringe sequin dress is one-of-a-kind and she exudes confidence in it.

Georgina Chapman in her own Marchesa glided ball gown. I love the gold peacock design, what a masterpiece.

Miss Columbia, Valerie Dominguez is such a tall beauty with her sheer black chiffon gown. Very elegant!

Penelope Cruz looks stunning beautiful in this teal design by L’Wren Scott. I love the cute maroon buttons on the side.

Red Carpet: 2008 Costume Institute Gala

All eyes are on yesterday’s annual, and very dramatic Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. It was a night of  glitz and glamour in the spirit of Paul Poiret, the “King of Fashion“. No doubt this is New York’s top red carpet event where celebrities play dress-up and showcase designer creations for style shutterbugs. The exhibit for the event is “Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy” - like totally cool (says The Fash-E Geek). You know this event is gonna be BIG when big names such as Vogue’s Anna Wintour, Balenciaga’s Nicolas Ghesquière, and Cate Blanchett were hosting the event.

There are so so many gorgeous, breath-taking gowns - seriously, I don’t even know where to begin. I’m not going to waste my time posting the fuglies (I’ll leave that to Go Fug Yourself). In my opinion, these lovelies are Fash-E’s red carpet superheroes of the night:

Possibly my ultimate favourite. It’s almost an interpretation of Wonder Woman goes Hollywood glam. Christina Ricci looks super lovely in her “sheer coral and red Givenchy concoction”. Love the belt!

Ivanka Trump always made an impression on me - for not looking like her father, if you know what I mean. She looks angelic and goddess-like in this flowly J. Mendel gown. Love the jeweled head piece, that totallyEmmy  completes the look.

Lookin’ fabulous in sunshine yellow is Kate Mara in Zac Posen asymmetrical belted number. We see alot of ruffles, detailing and pleats in this red carpet. Kate really stood out from the rest and the limelight is definitely shining on her.

The new member of Gossip Girl, Michelle Trachtenberg gives a golden twist to the Grecian/Nautical one-shoulder dress with cute rope belt. I love the metallic gold touch - definitely a head-turner!

Emmy Rossum looks down-right sexy and stunning in this Phi lace mermaid gown. The silhouette fits her perfectly and as you know, I’m a big floral print fan. It has a corset, lingerie undertone to it which I find it very enticing.

Amber Valletta, one of the most beautiful women in the world - looks crazily pretty in her metallic champagne column gown with mock wings. This could be a classic red carpet piece - with a superhero touch.

Finally, an Asian presence! Zhang Ziyi plays safe in black but this Giorgio Armani couture number boasts “intricate cross-hatching, pinwheel florals, and sparkles adorn everything from head-to-toe”.

On the quirky side, Maggie Gyllenhaal gets playful with Peter Som resulting in “this poufy, strapless eggplant dress” with “ruched bodice, oversized bow, uneven hem, tulle — but it’s very Maggie!”. I absolutely, completely agree. Love the scarlett lips.

Mrs Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes - possibly the craziest lookin’ A-list star at the event. You know what? I absolutely dig this! It’s so refreshing to see her break-out of her sophisticated “I’m so clean and proper ever since I married Tom” into this “hot mess”! This strapless Giorgio Armani dress paired with cool cobalt pumps gets my two thumbs up!

Nothing compliments Miss Eva Longoria-Parker better than “curly pleated ruffles of her full-skirted aubergine Marchesa gown”. We say, gimme more ruffles!!

A classic mermaid gown, with feathery hem! Blake Lively looks awesome in this black Ralph Lauren gown and don’t we love those black gloves as well? Hmm, gloves in Singapore sounds tempting but ridiculous at the same time.

Diane Kruger went short and chic in this cute, flirty grey Chanel frock! She double rocked the look with hot pink heels and pink nails!! This is my inspiration look for the month. Grey and Pink - noted.

Jennifer Connelly steps out of the ‘gown’ zone and create a style of her own in Balenciaga. I love her stunning choker-like necklace resembling a peacock.

Currently the highest paid model, Gisele Bundchen stole the limelight in this hugging Versace gown. The silhouette is amazing and cuts in the right curves. I want that body, dammit!
