Bestest TV Style: Week [13 - 17 Oct]

Sorry for the mini-hiatus. I’ve been ultra-busy (and I don’t even have classes!) with work and extra-curricular activities such as catching up with friends, writing for CNA, shopping with daddy and some reading. No Nintendo DS, I promise - in fact, I’ve to surrender it to my mum this weekend when I go back home. Malaysia, here I come! Gossip Girl returned last week with a bang! Unfortunately, 90210 and Lipstick Jungle were absent on Tuesday - I’m not sure why. But, I’m sure it had something to do with the U.S. Presidential Debate (Go Obama!). Let’s start the show shall we?

Gossip Girl S2: “New Haven Can Wait”

We hear that the boys and girls are on a field trip to Yale University. Fighting for a place in Yale can result in meeeeeeoooowwww and scratches! This has gotta be the best catfight you’ll ever witness since Valley of the Dolls. Ferocious!! Meanwhile, let’s take GG’s tip on preppy, ivy-league chic:

To be or not to be, Serena will give you the 101 if you’re applying for ivy league schools: Make sure you grabbed a sharp stripy blazer, large tote leather tote bag (for your important documents), jeans with boots (if you wanna look fierce yet creative), or a basic cashmere dress with white tights.

Blair takes a different style approach. She goes for the dark hues. Colours such as green and blue, specifically. It is important to wear knee-length skirts, if you have the legs to flaunt but not, too short - you never know if those legs can come in handy! Carry-on leather bags are a must to keep your portfolio. Blair wears Oxford pumps for the classic lady-like look. Take the cue from the missy who has prepared for this moment her entire life!

When in catfight, leave the headand at home. For the boys, take the cue from our favourite bad boy from the Upper East Side - Chuck Bass. He does have a thing for suits and bright colours. I think he looks really sharp.

Project Runway S5: Finale (Part 2)

It’s time for Bryant Park, ladies! New York Fashion Week, hello! This one of Project Runway’s first - a finale with three ladies. No men allowed! As you know, I’ve blogged about the finale show at Bryant Park awhile back. It’s funny how my favourites were from the three ladies - and my prediction was spot-on! Hurrah. It was very clever and sneaky for the producers to add three more collection to the show to misdirect us. Now, let’s see what the finalists have in-store for us:

Presenting, the winner of Project Runway Season 5: Leanne!!

She’s also my personal fave. Congrats, girl!

Korto whipped up the chrome dress in a day! She has the coolest runway music.

Kenley and her models. Too bad she didn’t win!

Bestest TV Style: Week [6 Oct - 10 Oct]

Foo-wahh! It has been one crazy week with BB in the house. Anyway, it’s time for Bestest TV Style (I’m almost sounding like a cheesy TV presenter) for Week 6 Oct to 10 Oct. Gossip Girl went on a holiday last week - leaving some of us wondering, “Why isn’t GG up yet?” but she’ll be back this week. Lipstick Jungle made me weep, just a little. 90210 ended on a high note - drama drama drama. Project Runway finalised the lucky trio to compete at Bryant Park. Let’s check out the looks, shall we?

90210: “Hollywood Forever”

Things were very exciting in the last episode. Totally redeemed the entire season to date! I want those pink booties that Naomi is wearing. Super hottt! BTW, somebody got arrested and I think somebody O.D. and possibly, died. Ooh, drama.

They’re such a cute couple! There’s something stripy that I like about her jacket.

Lipstick Jungle: “Let It Be”

The men. YUM. I’m diggin’ Victory’s new man - the Contractor. Hot.

Project Runway S5: Finale Part 1

We know that the designers have designed a bridal gown as part of their final collection. What you didn’t know, is the surprise that comes when the designers returned to NY. They’ve to design a bridesmaid dress in a day - and this determined who goes to NY Fashion Week.

Leanne’s bride and bridemaid gown. The winner, in my opinion.

For once, I actually like Kenley’s design. She’s still annoying though.

Korto’s “poo”-brown dresses. I’m sorry, I hate the colour to bits.

Jerrell goes theatrical with his concept - I don’t get it, really.

The Best of Project Runway Season 5 Finale

As you know, I love Project Runway - and I don’t wait till the new season premieres in Singapore. I mean, Channel 5 just started showing Season 4! A little birdie told me that the finalist showcased their collections at Bryant Park at the recent New York Fashion Week. I’m not diclosing the finalists, or the number of finalists. However, I’m going to share my favourites from the grand finale. Let’s just say, I was equally disappointed and wowed by the finalists’ works. In my opinion, this season showcased alot of annoying contestants (yes, the list includes Blayne, Kenley, Suede, Daniel, Keith, etc.) - like what happened to the lovable characters like Christian Siriano or Chris March or even… the super-hot Daniel Vosovic (yes, I’m in love with him). Anyway, I’ve picked my favourite and I really really want HER to win this because she clearly has the best construction, design and taste-level. I’m a big fan.

Project Runway Season 5 Begins!

Hurray! My weekly Project Runway fashion fix is back for Season 5 - supposedly the most diverse group of the series. Well, they always say that - right? I’m just happy that there’s the Internet if not, I’ll have to wait forever for the season to premiere on Discovery Travel & Living. This week, we see the contestants scurrying through a grocery store with $75 to make something out of anything they buy. So here are the Yays and the Nays of last week’s episode, “Let’s Start from the Beginning”:

WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD!

The Yays

Definitely my top two. I applaud Daniel for melting plastic cups to make that gorgeous blue plastic dress. And Kelli for her amazing creativity for fusing art with fashion.

The picnic party dress may be predictable but I love the results. It’s like a gingham dress. And, who dares to use fresh produce for a dress - great work, Korto! Love the bright yellow color.

I think Kenley’s idea of popping rubber balls to make the bustier is sooo cute. Can you imagine working with that material? And, Terri used the cotton from mop heads and weave them into this hot top.

The Nays

Do I sense psycho killer and diaper-wearing wrestling aunty?

Daniel lift up his plastic cup dress - it has a life of its own!

Blayne thinks he’s the next Christian Siriano. Girlicious, NOT!
