Best Dressed: 2012 MTV EMAs

OH YES. The 2012 MTV EMAs is all about Gangnam Style. Yes, dress classy and dance cheesy. Country cutie Taylor Swift went home with the most awards but we are more interested in what she is wearing. What’s awesome about the EMAs (in my humble opinion) is the complete randomness. You can expect the most eclectic tastes in music and icons (The Hoff. Enough said.). Let’s see who wears what at the 2012 MTV EMAs and absolutely rocked it:

Best Dressed 2012 MTV EMAs: Rita Ora

Rita Ora pulled out the big guns in this dramatic, red Marchesa Fall 2012 gown. LOVE IT!

Best Dressed 2012 MTV EMAs: Alicia Keys

Alicia Keys hit the spot in this Stella McCartney tri-colour “Miracle” dress. That hair is just sharp!

Best Dressed 2012 MTV EMAs: Kim Kardashian

YES. Kim Kardashian set the benchmark in this remarkable Stephane Rolland dress with a glamorous train.

Best Dressed 2012 MTV EMAs: Pixie Geldof

I couldn’t help but notice Pixie Geldof clutching on her Maison Martin Margiela for H&M candy wrapper clutch in metallic pink. HOT!

Best Dressed 2012 MTV EMAs: Heidi Klum

I can’t decide whether I like this or not (seriously). Heidi Klum definitely stood out in this Versace Spring 2013 number.

Best Dressed 2012 MTV EMAs: Anna V

Anna V lives her life dangerously in this “smoking” zipper dress.

Best Dressed 2012 MTV EMAs: Taylor Swift

I’ve seen Taylor Swift in these white, ethereal one, too many dresses. She still looks beautiful in this J. Mendel Fall 2012 gown.

Best Dressed 2012 MTV EMAs: Lana Del Rey

Lana Del Rey excudes vintage glamour in this satin, blue dress. Simple yet chic.

Best Dressed 2012 MTV EMAs: Louise Roe

Louise Roe channels the glam gladiator in this gorgeous white dress. Not lovin’ the snakeskin clutch though!

Best Dressed 2012 MTV EMAs: Carly Rae Jepsen

Call me, maybe? Carly Rae Jepsen shines in this Johanna Johnson dress.

Best Dressed: 2012 Cannes Film Festival

12 days. Hundreds of red carpet looks. Celebrities were all geared up in their best picks for the 2012 Cannes Film Festival. Roberto Cavalli dressed most of the gorgeous ladies at the festival this year. Diane Kruger blew me away with *gosh* everything. From Dior Couture to Giambattista Valli Couture, Diane Kruger is without a doubt, the red carpet queen. Coming close to second is Freida Pinto who truly stepped up into the spotlight in that bare-midriff Salvatore Ferragamo Resort 2012 outfit. If you would like to see ‘most’ looks from 2012 Cannes Film Festival, do visit my Facebook Page. Sit tight, we shall start the ball rolling with my favourites:

Enough said. Diane Kruger is a star on the red carpet. She dazzled the crowd in this Christian Dior Spring 2012 Couture gown the closing ceremony of 2012 Cannes Film Festival and ‘Therese Desqueyroux’ premiere.

Here is how you make a statement. Become Eva Longoria for the night in Marchesa with a 6 ft train! The gown is a work of art from all angles. That’s how you get ultimate media coverage, ladies and gentlemen.

Freida Pinto has made some amazing fashion choices at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. I love this fashion-forward choice of Salvatore Ferragamo Resort 2012 dress. Bare those abs!

At 74 years old, Jane Fonda is a knock-out. What did I tell you about exercise? She looks incredible and aeons younger than her actual age in this beautiful Stella McCartney Evening 2012 gown.

This could almost be a Diane Kruger vs Freida Pinto post but I’m not giving it a chance! But, this Giambattista Valli Couture gown made my heart stop at the opening night of the 2012 Cannes Film Festival and ‘Moonrise Kingdom’ premiere.

Talk about drama! I read that someone called it a “bloodied tampon” and that imagery never left my head. To be honest, I think Cheryl Cole looked stunning in this Stephane Rolland Couture gown with a feathered tail. What do you think?

WOW. JUST WOW. Frieda Pinto nailed it in the bulls-eye with this Atelier Versace Spring 2012 gown with thigh-high split and structural details.

Peek-a-boo! Anja Rubik looked statuesque in this sheer Emilio Pucci with pattern details at the amfAR Cinema Against AIDS gala.

Kirsten Stewart picked the most bad-ass pants from Balenciaga. I LOVE IT! Paired with Rebecca Minkoff blazer, she is definitely feeling comfortable at the On the Road photocall.

Singapore’s First Haute Couture Week at the First Women’s Fashion Week 2011 (26 – 30 October 2011)

HAUTE COUTURE WEEK in Singapore – is it necessary? At first thought, this doesn’t make any sense. That’s why it took me awhile to compose this blog entry about the inaugural Women’s Fashion Week 2011 to be held at the Expo and Exhibition Centre, Marina Bay Sands. As you know, Singapore ranked 8th in the Top 10 Fashion Capital of the world. As the first Haute Couture Week outside of Paris, the world will be watching Singapore’s every move. This will be the time for Singapore to prove its credibility and position as an international fashion “hub” and not become the biggest joke in fashion history. Let’s be optimistic, shall we?

Haute Couturiers Gustavo Lins and Stéphane Rolland will both be presenting their Haute Couture collection in Singapore this coming October. I’m excited about seeing Stéphane Rolland‘s impeccable design on the runway. At age 30, Stéphane Rolland was the youngest French Couturier in Paris and the House of Stéphane Rolland will continue to reflect a “modern and original interpretation of Couture”. On the other hand, Gustavo Lins expresses “the spirit of architecture through clothing” and he is known to hide his name under an “architect’s triangle of smooth leather stitched at the back of the neck”.

A sneak peek at  Stéphane Rolland’s Haute Couture collection. LOVE!

It’s the exquisite, delicate details that count.

A sneak peek at Gustavo Lins‘ Haute Couture collection.

Once again, Haute Couture is not for everyone but the rich and famous in this part of the world. For me, I am just glad to be part of the action.
